will enable othersskilled in the art to which it appertains to make and useithe same.
This invention relates to improvements in extension supports for window: shades and lace curtains; and the objects of my improvement are, first, to provide means for relatively arranging and: quickly adjusting supports for window shadesland lace cur-u tains for windows of dwelling; houses, other buildings and lstructures; and second, @to
avoid :the time heretofore lost and. labor hereto uselessly (expended. in 1 adjusting the shades to the frames ofqwindows, and arranging the lace curtains relativelyato the shades and Isupportingthe same from the window frames:
The invention consists essentially in the construction, combination and arrangement of the several partsas will behereinafter fully described in the specification, shown upon the drawings appended hereto and spe cifically pointed out in the claims made a part hereof.
I attain these objects by the construction and arrangement of the several parts illustrated in the. accompanying, drawings, in whicha Figure 1 is a view in elevation of my im-I proved extension support for window shades and lace curtains suspended from the frame of a window; Fig.2 isa front side view in elevation of my, improvement shown in full and dotted lines, parts thereof broken away,
the improvement removed from the window frame, the shade and lace curtains removed from my improved support therefor; Fig. 3 is a plan view of my improvement shown in full and dotted lines, parts thereof broken away, the shade and lace curtains removed and the improvement removed from the window frame; Fig.1 iis a view. on an enw larged scale, parts thereof inelevation and apart thereofin section, taken on the line A-A of Fig. 2; and :Fig. 5 is a view on,
an enlarged scale of my improvementyparts thereof broken away showing one of the 8115-1 pendinghooks and one of the lace curtain rod supporting hooks.
Similar numerals, letters and characters refer to like parts throughout the several views of the drawings.
The reference numeral 1 denotes one member of my extension: support for window shades and lace curtains; 1 denotes the other member of my saidlextension:support.
The numeral 2 refers to the clamping jaws upon. the :end of the member 1, forming ways 3, in which the member 1' is adapted to slide, and 2' designates the clamping jaws upon the end of the member 1., forming ways 3in which the member 1 is adapted to slide, as shown upon Figs. 2 and 3of the drawings.
Upon the outer free end of the member :1, I formtheiextension 4, preferably made integral with the member 1, said cxtensionsbeing deeper and wider than the said member. 1; and upon the outer free end of the memher 1, I form the extension 4:, desirably made integral with said members 1, saidlexe the drawings. The clampingjaws 2. abut against the projecting. ends of the extension ,4, when shown uponFig. 2 of the drawings, and the j tension being deeper and under thani the member 1, as shownnpon Figs. 2 and 3;of
i the extension support is closed together, as
clamping jaws 2. abut against the extension 1 4 upon the memberl when my improved extension support is closed together, as lllustrated upon Fig. 2 of the drawings.
The reference numerals 5 and 6 designate a two curved-serrated plates bolted or otherwise fastened. to the front face of the ex-; tension 4; and the numerals 7 and 8 refer to curved-serrated plates bolted or otherwise fastened to the front face of the extension: 4:, which:is preferably an integral part :of
the member 1, as illustrated upon Figs. 1,3,
100 of the extensions .4, 4, near the point, where t 2 and 5 of the drawings. In the upper edge the said upper :member 1 joins said exten-, sion, are openings 9 in which the ends of the suspendinghooks 11 are adapted to be secured, the said hooks 11 having pointed ends 12, adapted to rest upon the upper edge of? tains, etc., suspended thereby, the points 12 the window frame 14,.as illustrated in Fig.1, 1 of the drawings. By means of the pointed ends 12 and the weight of the poles and cur takeinto the upper edge of the WiIIdOW1 frame 14, and thereby prevent the displacementof the said hooks from the same. In
to perm t access. tothe brackets and to inthe outer ends of the. said. extensions 41,4, secured upon the members 1 and 1, as here inbefo-re menti-oned, the pole-suspending hooks 19, for the curtain pole 16, having ends 19 are insertedin the openings inthet said extensions and' 4, as shown upon Figs. I
4 and 5 of the drawings:
I 'The numeral 25 designates the brackets which are adjustable between: the curved.- serrated plates 5 and fi upon the extension 4, and the ammed-serrated plates :7 and 8; upon the extension 4, the: said brackets provided with openings 26 therein tfonthe'j ourjnal's '18 of theiroller's 1810f the: shade 17: The-said eurved serrated plates on: the rear face thereof: near the ends; are p-romided with ofisets 30, asv shown upon i Fig: 1. off the drawings, which extend to about the first serration 30 on each of v said plates," as indicated upon lilig, 5 ofs'tliedrawings', the saidlofis'ets 30 'up on the rear facevoi' saidtcurvediser V rated't plates lie fiat against; thefront iiae'es near: theaends of'it'he extensionsa-and e, a
