I APERI-SHEET-GLUING MACHINE.
Specification of Illetters Patent.
Patented Apr. 8, 1913.
Application filed Kay 29, 1911. Serial No. 630,199.
To all wkom it may concern Be it known that I, WALTER KELLNER, of
Wiescherstrasse 13, Barmen, Rhenish Prussia, Germany, have invented .new and useful Improvements in Paper-Sheet-Gluing Machines, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact specification.
My invent-ion has reference to machines by which a sheet of paste-board and a sheet of paper or textile fabric are glued together, the paste-board being transported on a table and the covering sheet guided over a roller to be fed with glue and then are carried to meet thepaste-board forbeing united therewith. Now in order to obtain a fabric without folds and wrinkles and With a smooth surface I have constructed my machine in such a manner that the glued covering sheet which on its way to the meeting point with the paste-board is supported on an endless transporting band of textile fabric with the glued surface outward travels a long way during which the paper sheet may be thor oughly impregnatedor get moistened and at the same time is .firmly pressed down or drawn on the said transporting band, so that no folds and wrinkles can be formed and the sheet may be smoothly pasted on the paste-board.
In order to make more clear my invention I have illustrated the same on the accompanying sheet of drawing, showing the apparatus in its main or essential features.
Referring to the drawing the numeral 0. indicates a table supporting the single sheets of paper or the like which'should be pasted on the paste-board, that is placed in single sheets on a second table it being arranged above the table a as shown. In front of said table a a pair of rollers b is situatedwhich receive the single paper sheet or blank and guide it to and upon the surface of the glue feeding roller e'. Said roller e is in more or less close contact With'a roller 6 that dips into a receptacle e filled with glue. By means of the said roller e the blank is provided on its surfacewith glue and then it isfreedfrom said roller by means of a fork or the like instrument (2 and turned the. glued surface upward and laid uponan endless belt f of textile fabric. Said belt is supported by an inclined table 71 having arranged at both of its ends the rollers 73 i respectively and underneath of its bottom a roller i said three rollers serving as a guide for the said endless belt f. The roller 2' cooperates with a roller 9 and these rollers i and g are located in front of the table it as shown. The side portions of the room between the bottom of the table a and the botthe other end during which travel the blank may be thoroughly moistened or impregnated with the moisture of the glue so that afterward no folds can get in the blank and to further improve this action the blank is by, means. of the sucking action of the fan 7: which is exerted through the holes i of the table 2' and the textile fabric of the belt smoothly forced or drawn down'on the belt f and by this means both blanks the pasteboard 1' and the sheet 1' when passing the rollers. i 9 are firmly united together and the first one lined with the sheet ina manner that not a bit of a fold or wrinkle appears on its surface.
I declare that what I claim is:
1. In a paper gluing machine, means for applying glue to the under side of a sheet, means coacting with the gluing nieans for inverting the sheet, a conveyer on which the inverted sheet is carried into contact with a second sheet, suction means for firmly holding the sheet on the conveyer, and means for pressing the two sheets into unison.
2. A sheet gluing machine comprising means for applying glue to a sheet, a conveyer on which the sheet is carried with its glued side up, suction means coacting with the conveyer for holding the sheet firmlyv WALTER KELLNER. [L. s.]
