Specification of Le 21 mic. Patented Apr. 8, 1 SP1 A;
Application filed June 9, 1911. Serial No. 832228.
To all whom it may 00mm;
Be it known that I, A: o'zqzo A. Wzmisnn, a citizen of the l l'niled States, and resident of New Britain, in the county of larifiu'd and Slsila: of onneoticut, have imenied ceri nin new uud useful Imp 'eincnisin Deinclnihlc Handles. of which the lollmving s specification The invenlion relates pzirii ulin'ly in a handle for chafing dishes and the like. ifs object being to produce s device of the chair acier ocscri ocal having feiilu" and admin lure and u,
in the drawings: Figure 1 a. side elevation of a portion of n container to which the improved handle applied. Fig. 2 is a delnil "view of ihc doio huhle structure shown ion. Fig. 3 n hotin cenl'ral vertical in tom view of the stru ture shown in Fig. 2 with a para i rolien away to show consiructicn, einhmlied The invention i illus'rrilid I in u handle in it coating 1' I a denoungg' l pornon of :he (fish, 5 a sockct sec'urei thereto as by or 1,2, and 0 he removable handle J Th socket or ferrule member is provided. with 2i irnnsverselv urrangc ing an enlored i ilaoc l2 l J'cting Iron-i {no ,urougn on rip" 1n the wall of {h ickcl. which may l' gaged iv the fi; agninsr the spr in position with. i interior of lhesocl outer end of rho lzcsd spoon in Joe inner wail oi i the Inout. oi the socke so ihiit p the Il'errulc 1 (:nrricd n" 7 nd into thel v iciiet SMZlLBiit wil. To rcmove the handle it is only necessary tip sufficiently to disengage the head of the detentfrom the ferrule when the handle can be readily withdrawn,
The structure as it will be seen is very simple, inexpensive to manufacture and very mm; ient to use. i am aware that in its de'iails it may be altered Without departing from the spirit of the invention.
l claim as my invention:
l. A device of the character described comprising a socket, a spring pressed deient mounted therein and adapted for longitudinal movement, a ferrule adapted to fit nihin said socket and reressed to receive defiant, interengaging parts on said delcnt, and ferrule, and means for moving said er/cut to disengage it. from said ferrule.
A device of the character described mprising a socket, a spring-pressed delent arranged transversely thereof, a tip secured thereto extending through an aperinre in the wall of said socket, a handl provided with'a ferrule and slotted to receive said tip and a shoulder on said ferrule adapted to interlock with said deteut when it in its normal position,
3 device of the character described comprising a socket, a spring-pressed de- T ieui arranged transversely thereof. a tip of a reduced SJZE" attached to said detent and projecting through an aperture in fhc wall d socket the face of said deicnt being lined to the wall of the socket, a handle sided with :1 ferrule adapted to fit withcuid socket having a slot to receive reduced tip, and a shoulder back of ssid adapted lo interlock with said defiant.
2 device of the characterv described comprising a socket member, a detent arranged transversely thereof with an end face abutting against its inner wall, with its face angular-1y disposed with relation to the wall of the socket, a tip of reduced size projecting from the end of the detent through an aperture in the socket, a handle, a ferrule thereon adapted to fit closely within the socket said ferrule being slotted to receive said tip and a shoulder in said forrule back of said slot adapted to interlock with said detent.
A device of the character described comprising a socket, a spring-pressed detent located within and transversely of said socket, means for holding said detent with an end face against the inner wall of said socket and slightly inclined thereto toward the open end thereof, a tip of reduced size 20 projecting from said face through an aper ture in the wall. of the socket and by means of which said detent is adapted to be moved longitudinally, a handle provided with a tubular ferrule having a slot of less width than the diameter of the detent face to receive said tip, the walls of said ferrule at either side of the slot being adapted for engagement with the inclined end of said detent whereby said detent is depressed upon the inward movement of the ferrule into the socket, said ferrule being provided .with an aperture into which said slot opens, said aperture being adapted in size to receive the head of said detent, and lock said handle in position in said socket.
