GEORGIA A. Muzzy, OF CHICAGO, ILLIivoIs.
PIE-PLATE ATTACHMENT.
To all whom-it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGIA A. MUZZY, a citizen of the. United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pie- Plate Attachments, of which the following is aspecification.
This invention is an attachment for pieplates and is designed to prevent the outer edge of a' pie, while baking, from being scorched as the middle portion is getting the required color orfinish. A
In the accompanying drawingforniing a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a transverse section showing the application of the invention; Fig. 2 is a plan View.
Referring specifically to the drawing, 5 denotes a pie-plate or similar baking pan having an annular rim or flange 6 at the top, from which extends a depending annular flange 7. which is located on the outside of the plate and surrounds the same in spaced relation. The flange 7 slopes outward slightly, and is formed at the bottom into a channel 8. I
The attachment 'is'in the nature of a cover having a sidewall 9 and a top 10, in which latter is acentral opening 11. The side wall tapers and is dimensioned to fit over the outside of the flange 6, the bottom of said,
Specification of Letters Patent.

Application filed May 3, 1912. Ser'ial No. 694,835.
Wall seating in the channel 8. The top of the cover slopes downward from the opening 11 to the side wall 9.
Fig. 2 shows the attachment in position on the pie-plate 5. It will be noted that the attachment forms a cover for the pie-plate, the side wall 9 rising some distance from the latter. The opening 11 admits heat to the top of the pie, and as the cover extends entirely around the edge of the pie, the latter is prevented from being scorched while the nuddle portion is baking.
I claim: I
g A pan having at its edge an outstanding rnn provided with a downwardly and outwardly disposed flange at the outer edge thereof, said flange having at its lower edge an upwardly curved annular channel, a cover havin a side wall adapted to rest at its lower ed wall being adapted to fit snugly against said flange with its 11 per edge spaced above the rim, the side wal merging at its upper portion into an upwardly and inwardly inclined top having an open center.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
