To all whom it may; omit-m Be it known that we. Esussrl Resort CRANE.) a citizen. HEN Y ing at Elam Jose, is the county of Saints Clorii. mid'iiitote of California, have in vented certain new Rails to Ties, of which specification.
@ur invention relates to. improvements in devices for securing reiirosdo'sils to ties.
One object of our invention is to provide means for securin railroad-rails to' ties without melting ho es in'thc tics, and with out the use of bolts, nuts screws or spikes.- 1 Another object of our inventionis to provide Means of securing railroad-rails to ties that will strengthen rather than weaken the tie, and-that. will he etlicient, economical, and durable, easily applied and easily renio ved.
Further objects of our invention will appear in the following description;
Our invention consists of the parts and the construction and combination of parts as hereinafter more fully described and claimed, having reference to the accon1- panying drawings. in Which- Figure 1 is a. perspective view "of our device for securing railroado'ails to tieswhen in use, parts or rail and tie being broken away. Fig. 2 is a perspective (19W of the locking bar. Fig. 3 is s perspective View of the under friction plate, showing the four split pivots. t is an enlarged perspective View of a portion or the under friction plate, and one split pivot being spread with a. tapering tool.
Similar numerals refer to similar parts throughout the several drawings.
Vith reference to the accompanying drawings. 1. Fig. 1. is a railroad cross-tie which may be of reinforced concrete, Wood,- or any other suitable material and with or without recesses in the upper or lower surfaces thereof. Fig. 1 shows the preferred method of using our device; recess 2 bein cast in the upper'surface of said tie 1, an antifriction pad 3, friction plate 4:, and the flanged base of rail 5 placed therein; recess 6 being cast. in the lower surface of said tie 1, and antifrict-ion pad 7 and friction plate Specificat lm of Letters Patent. oiigilieeiiou flied Ileeiizbcr 26,1912.
