In the operation of the improved system, as above described, the reservoir or gravity tank 10, the precipitation tank 13,- the filter 15, the drip receiving tank17, the pump 18, .the main refuse tank 29 audits exhaust pump 35 being inregular service, the oil passes from tank- 10 through the outlet which is above the bottom thereofthrough the oil, main 11"to the'location where it is to be used or hahdled in anydesi'red manner or wheredrips are liable to. occur. Drips are returned to the precipitation or settling tank 13 through the return drip main 12 preferably entering thetank-13 at a point considerably above the bottom thereof, as indicated ..to prevent agitating impurities lying 'upoii the bottom of the tank. The heavier impurities inthe drip are precipitated in .this tankvand lie'stagnant onthe bottom until the drain pipe of this tank is brought into service. By reason of the precipitation or settling which will take place in taiik13, the clearer oil will rise to the top 1 of the tank as indicated at 50, the stagnant impurities being indicated bythe reference; character 51 at the'hottom of the tank. The top clear oil overflows and is discharged through pipe 14, through filter 15, whence it passes by gravity through pipe 16 to drip receiving tank 17 entering the same near the bottom thereof.
Thepump 18 may be operatedto remove the clear oil from tank 17 through the in take 20 which is above the bottom of the tank as indicated, the oil passing through p p 9-1 eing open and valve 26 closed, and when the valve 41 is closed and valve 28 opened, the oil will be forced upwardly through pipe 27 and discharged into tank 10. The fact that the intake 20 within thetank 17 is above the bottomthereof, as

It. will be apparent'that in time during the normal ope'ration "of -'-the system the tanks- 10 and 17 will contain impurities in upon considerable quantities which will lie the bottoms of these tanks.
