lie it known that I, HERMAN Konro, a. citizen-of the United States of America, residing tit Braddock, in the countyoi Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented oertein new end, useful Improvements in Garment-Stays, of which the following is a. specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to a garment stay or stidener, and-the primary object of my invention is to provide a. strong, durable and inexpensive stay or stiil'ener that is ca-' pnble of yielding or being flexed in either direction. and at the some time possess suilicient rigidity or stiffness to cause the garment to set or lay smoothly and gracefully or to support the person of the wearer and. which may be readily applied and secured A further object of this invention is to provide wire stays for corsets or analogous garments consisting of a continuous Wire which is curved at intervals to form a succession, of uniforinloops extending through out the length of the stay, the formation of the loops being siicii as to impart great strength and compactness to the structure and render the semecepehle of resisting excessive strains, especially edgewis'c deflection.

In the drawing there is illustrated a piece of Wire designated 2 which is bent to provide a plurality of loops 3 and at that are in a horizontal plane. The loops 3 form the side edges of the stay with the loops extending into and abutting against the loops 3. The manner of looping the wire pro vides practically a flat solid body that can be used as o stiilener in connection with various-kinds of garments. The inner loops l reinforce the outer loops 3 and with all of said loops contacting, as best shown in Fig. 2, the stay has great rigidity.
What I claim is:--
1 l. A garment stay mode of a single piece of wire bent to provide contacting inner and outer loops, the inner loops reinforcing the outer loops, said inner and outer loops extending in the same plane.
2. A. garment stay comprising ii piece of wire bent to provide large and small loops all arranged in a common plane with the small loops extending into the large loops, said large loops forming the side edges of said stay.
