Ely, both in .th'eicountyof White Pine and State of Nevada,-cit1zens of, the United States, have invented certain new'and useful Improvements in Hydraulic Ore-Separators; and we do hereby declare the followmg to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful apparatus for separating recious metals from sands etc., and consis in the provision of by rauhc apparatus for saving the floating gold.
More specifically the invention comprises an apparatus having a series of slotted tables arranged one above another ahd through the slots of which the water under pressure is introduced to cause the lighter values to be separated from coarser materialand to cause an accelerated current to carry away the lighter values before being given a chance to settle, thereby effecting an appreciable saving over hydraulic separatin apparatus commonly em loyed and in which the floating gold is usua 1y not recovered.
Our invention comprises an apparatus having various details of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts which Wlll be hereinafter fully described shown in the accommn ing drawings and tllien specifically do no in the appended C film.
We illustrate our invention in the accompanying drawm s in which:

Fig. 8 is axsectionalview on line 33 of-Fig. 1.. v Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a sluice way or trou h havin a series" of horizontally-dispose tables which are disposed in step relation with one another, and each table is supported at its ends by an inclined Wall C, the lower ends of the inclined walls .being spaced apart and connected by a transverse partition D. Each of said tables ."isprovided-with one or more elongated slots 13 running the entire len th of the table and which slots are disposed at inclinations to each other and the walls of the slots are slightly wider at their lower ends than at the upper ends. It will be noted that in the upper tables a single slot is formed in the table and said tables, preferably, are slightly narrower than the tables in which there may be a plurality of the slots, a single slot being suilicient in the upper tables to carry away the coarser materials being separated. the major part of which will have passed throu h the slots in the lower tables before reaching the higher ones. Said sluice way or trough is provided with an opening K through which the material is fed into one end thereof whereit is acted upon by the water being forced into the trough. Passing throu h each horizontal partition D is a pipe through which water is introduced under ressure into each chamber beneath the tab 9 and affords means whereby water at a uniform pressure may be introduced to act upon the material and produce: a current which will tend to carry the lighter values toward the upper portion of the trough or sluice way before they have an op ort-unity to settle with the heavier partic es.
Each partition D is provided with an exit pipe 0 which may be temporarily closed by means of a plug 0' and allot-ding means whereby the heavier particles which have settled may be withdrawn from said chambers.
