To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK H. WARD,
.a citizen of the United States, residing in the borough of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Electric-Box Connections, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
My invention relates to improvements in electrical boxes, and has particular reference to what is generally known as an outlet box.
One of the objects of the invention is to provide plenty of room within the box for the wires in such a manner that the same may be conveniently handled.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a vertical cross section of the box showingan application of my invention, and Fig. 2 is a horizontal cross section on the line 22 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3-is a vertical cross section illustrating a modification.
When used for a ceiling outlet the box 4 may be secured to the gas pipe 5 by any suitable means such as the screw 6. box is preferably provided with any desired number of chambers such as 7 tangential of the central opening to clear the same, said chambers being adapted to receive the ends of the conduits 8 which may be secured therein by any of the usual means, the wires within said conduits entering the box through the openings such as 9 in said chambers. Of course it will be understood that any number of inlets may be provided for the box and it will also be understood that the construction of the bridge may be varied.-
For instance it has been found desirable to use a web such as 12 to strengthen the connection to which the fixture is applied, and
various other modifications may be made and strengthening webs extending from the sides of said ring to the tops of said chambers.
