lie it known that` we, Gannon H. Curr and WILLIAM J. GAI/r. .l1- citizens of the United Statesl` and residents of Philadelphia, county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful 1mprorements in Means for Tagging Hookand-llye Tape, of which the followingr is a specification.
Our invention relates to improvements in means for tagging hook and eye tape and other articles of merchandise to which it may be found to be applicable.
The object of our invention is to provide ni ans for tagging an article of merchandise in such manner that it ma)v be identified b v purchasers and others without attaching or connecting, by means of metallic prongs or otherwise7 the tag direct-ly to the fabric or other substance constituting' the article of merchandise. On the contrary the tag is secured to the members such as hooks and eyes or other forms of attachment which are rar,- ried by the fabric or other material of inerehandise.
As employed in connection with a hook and eye tape, we have illustrated our in\'ention as consisting of a tag' member of any suitable material, preferably paper or cardboard, provided with openings spaced apart through which the forward ends of two adjacent hook members are adapted to project. lt is to be understood. however, thaty our invention may be embodied in other forms of construction and that we are not. limited to the precise .form of construction illustrated in our drawings, forming a part of this specification` and in which,-

it will be understood that the hooks and eyes are permanently secured to the tape members l and 2 and that the hook and eye tape is placed upon the market in thatl Way and that the members 1 and 2 may be sewed to the opposite portions of an article of apparel. for instance., and the hooks and eyes intel-locked in the usual manner for the purpose of fastening or securing together the.. edges of such article of apparel.
lt is very desirable that means be em-A ployed for tagging the hook and eye tape for the purpose of furnishing such information with relation thereto as may be desired by the manufacturer or seller. To this end we have provided a tag 7, which may, as stated, consist. of any suitable material, preferably paper or cardboard, having openings S therein through which the ends of two adjacent hooks may be projected, indicated in Fig. l, and also indicated in Fig. 2.
