Description

A. ALBRECHT, SALTING APPARATUS.
AP PLIOATIO N FILED JULY 30, 1912.
1,055,504. I 'Patehted Mar. 11,19 3.
' r s? c N ZVQZ'neussEs' V I AUGUST ALBRECHT, OF Lil'BECK, GERMANY.
SALTING APPARATUS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 11, 1913.
Application filed July so; 1912. Serial No. 712,286.
'Llibeck, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Salting Apparatus, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawlng.
The subject of the present invention is a salting apparatus with the pickling salt surrounding the meat in. an unbroken circle under the action of electricity.
As against the similar salting apparatuses already known, the invention consists in a valuable improvement of them which is distinguished by the vats, which are put in connection with one another by clay pipes, and
also the pump consisting of earthenware, coated with a specially hard glazing of great resisting power, to allow of the electric cur rent introduced into the salting vat acting equally on the meat to be treated without atl'ecting the holder. 'logether with a saving in electric torce,'the action of which on the salting rats is completely avoided, a speedy salting of the goods is procured which is quite unobjectimiable hygienically in every way, as all the parts which come in contact with the pickling salt cannot oxidize and are easily cleaned and rause no trouble.
In the illustration: Figure I. shows the subjectklflhf theinvention in section, and Fig.
7 II the view from above.
Acer-irding to the invention the apparatus consists of two trough-like earthenware holders A and B. The holder A is provided bottom a"ac lay pipe 6 is introduced into the holder A, wh ch is connected with the suction pipe 9 of the pump in a clay pipe la connected which is introduced intoc the holder B. In the upper part of the holder A a "clay pipe 2' which is introduced on the slope into the holder B, is arranged so that its inlet when the holder full lies above lid 1;. Under the exit of the pipe "i in@ holder B a cooling coil is is arranged, in which cold water circulates.
The letter, H, designates the lower part of the pump.
i The goods to be treated are placed on the bottom a, of the holder A, lightlycovered with the lidwith holes 0 and perhaps weighted or kept down by meansof a suit able, appliance for ap 'ilying pressure. The holder B is filled with the pickling material the'pump we set to work now sucks the pickling material by means of the'connecting pipes y, it from the holder 13 and presses it by means 01 the connecting pipes c, into the holder A. The material then ascends through the apertures a to the meat, presses up through the lid 0 to space /c and flows back through the tube j again into the holder B, via the cooling coil is, by which any possible alteration of temperature is made to disappear, and then again enters on its circuit. The
electric current started at the beginning ot and the bones and as there is no loss of the current: by conductible parts of the holder,
etc., an exceedingly quicksalting is obtained.
Any letting otl of the salting material From the holder is conveniently done by loosening the tubes 6 and y] from the pump, after which the holder, pump and tubes can be easily cleaned, as the earthenware parts are not attacked by the salt-solution nor do they allow of oxidation or rotting. v
- Having now described the invention and the manner of using it, what I claim and de sire to secure, is
in salting apparatus, two trough-like en: axneled vats, A and Bptheholding vat A having a pickling bottom a with apertures thcrcthrough, a lid (shaving apertures c j disposed omsaid holding vat, below the delivery pipef of a pump or. lYith the upper edge ofsaid vat, a ridge Z, supporting said lmttoma, said vat B, a force pump be tween saul vats, a suction pipe connecting said pump with the lower part of said Vat" B; a delivegy pipe connecting said pump with a space below the perforated bottom of vat A, an inclined pipe connecting the part is, of the vet A with the upper part of vat 5 B, cooling means and means to pass an electric current tlupugh the substance being created.
' In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in the presence of two Witnesses.
AUGUST ALBRECHT.
