AUTOMATIC STOCK-SPRAYER Specification of Lctterslaltcnt. Vl llllltd )12H2 L 1912;.
21, 1912. Serial No4 679,092,
Application filed 'February mz myn ihn f onto the platform Will compress the springs l/iand cause the platform and the dia onal bars to descend and push the rod 15 own- Ward to open communication with the cham.- ber 17 and the rod 15 pushing downward on the spring will raise the ball 24 to open communication with the chamber 20 and-the liquid contained in the tank will iow into both chambers alike. The liquid entering the chamber 17 will flow through the sprayer head 33 and .will be sprayed on top of the animal and the liquid from the chamber 20 will tiovv through the pipe 8l to the ,fs-,rayer head 35 and Will be sprayed upwar onto the animal. i .Skin diseases and vermin are very likely to occur on the underside of the animals body..l llieie is great practical ad vantage 'in the, two sprayer heads to apply the liquid-beth from above and below and distribute itv equally over the entire body of the animal thereby avoiding the necessity for immersing the animal and resulting in economical use oit' the liquid and saving much labor in the treatment of the animal.
linmersing has been commonly practised but is objectionable not only on account of the labor involved, but because the liquid in which the animal is immersed attacks lthe eyes and the membranes of the nose and throat and is injurious toA the animals. The spraying affords e'ective treatment and is not injurious to the animalls eyes or membranes. 4lf it be desired to control the operation of the sprayer by hand, that may be eiected bymean'sof a lever 36 suitably connected to operate the valve rod l5.
'Having fully described my invention what l claim as new and desire to secure by Let ters Patent is: A
1. In an apparatus o' the class described, the combination of a tank support; a tank adapted to contain liquid; a valve-body mounted in the tank and having two contiguous chambers; outlet devices in com-.
munication with the respective chambers l of the valve-body; a downwardly-acting sprayer in communication with one outlet device; an upwardly-acting sprayer in communication with the other outlet device; two valves controlling communication. with the respective chambers of the valve-body; a springy connection normally acting to incasso hold both valves on their seats, and valve' actu-ating means connected with said springy connection.
2. ln an apparatus of the class described, the combination oi a tank support; a tank adapted to contain liquid; a two-chamber valve-body in communication with the tank.; outlet devices in` communication with the im spective chambers of the valve-bodyg vertically opposite sprayers in communication with said outlet devices respectively; tvvo valves, controlling admission of the liquid to the valve chambers respectively; a lever connecting said valves; and a vertically adu instable valve rod actuating bot-h valves si multaneously.
3. .li an apparatus of the class describeeh;
the combination of a tank support; a tank adapted to contain liquid; a two-chamber valvebody in communication With the tank; outlet devices in communication with the chambers of the valve-body `respectivelyA; vertically opposite sprayers in communication with-said outlet devices respectively;
` a pair of valves controlling communication with the chambers of the valve-bodyiiiispec tively; a springy lever connecting the valves; a screw-threaded valve rod; and a nut on the screwthreaded valve. rod and titl c capable of adjust-ment to control the tension of the springy lever.
4. In an apparatus ofthe class described,A
the combination of la tank support; a tank adapted 'to contain liquid;l a two-chamber' valve-body in communication withthe tank' and having an inlet opening and an, outlet opening for each chamber; tivo /oppositely' movable closures controlling admission to the chambers oi' the valve-hodyfilespectivelyi4 an oscillative leverconnectingF said closures; outlet devices in coimunication with the re spcctivc chambers of the valve-body; and vertically opposite sprayers in communication with said outlet devices., ln witness whereof, l have hereunto signed my naine at Springfield, Illinois, this nineteenth dayof February, 1912.
