MONROE GUETT, OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO THE HART & I-IEGEMAN MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT, A CORPORATION OF CONNECTICUT.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MONROE GUETT, a citlzen of the United States. and resident of Hartford, in the county of Hartford and .aowing more clearly the manner of attaching the dial. Fig. 4 is a detail cross sectional view of a modified form of dial securing structure. Fig. 5 is a sectional view 01a still further modification.
Referring to the drawings, a is the base,
6-?) the switch plates, 0 the dial, (Z the cover having the aperture cl through which inscriptions on the dial can be read and e the handle secured to the switch spindle. Mounted so as to move with the poles or switch plates cZcZ is a disklO having at its edge a series of upstanding fingers 11 projecting through apertures 12 formed in the recess 13 of the dial. 1-1 is a split spring ring located in the recess in the dial and adapted to embrace the upstanding fingers 11.
In order to prevent accidental disengagement of this split ring with the fingers I prefer to provide some method of interlocking it with the fingers. In Fig. 8 I have shown one way of accomplishing this resultwhich is by having the fingers upwardly and outwardly inclined so that t e spring ring embracing the outer sides ofthe fingers Specification of Letters Patent.

will look under them. In Fig. 4 the outer walls of the fingers are slightly notched to receive the ring. In Fig. 5 the spring fingers are inwardly inclined and the spring ring embraces the insides of the fingers exerting a spreading action and is interlocked therewith.
The dial is always positively positioned on or connected with the switch plates and it can be readily removed when it is desired to get at the switch mechanism or any of the securing screws and can be as readily put back into place.
In order to insure that. the dial is always properly placed so that the inscriptions will correspond to the positions of the switch plate. I make one of the projections of different width than the others and fitoneof the apertures in the dial to it. As indicated in the drawings one of the fingers 15 is shown as made wider than the others. The same result can be obtained by unevenly spacing the fingers apart.
I claim as my invention A switch comprising switch plates a disk adapted to move with said plates, inclined tip-standing integral fingers mounted upon the periphery of said disk, a dial having an annular recessed portion and provided with apertures therethrough adapted for the reception of said fingers, a spring-ring positioned in said recess and adapted to engage said fingers above said dial for interlocking said dial with said fingers, said disk and dial having the central port-ions spaced apart and provided with alining openings therethrough MONROE GU ETT.
