Be it known that I, SAMUEL B. ALLEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at- Providence, in the county of Providence-and btate of Rhode Island, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Watchcase- Boxes, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in watch case boxes and resides more particularly in the structure of the watch support proper.

The primary object of the invention is to provide a watch support which can be wholly made from paper, and in which the parts can be easily and quickly assembled to provide the finished product.

In the drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention. Fig. 2 is a sectional perspective showing a paper blank formed according to the first step in practising the invention. Fig. 3 is a similar View showing the blank after the second step has been ractised. 'Fig. i is a sectional view showlng the device in the third step of'its manufacture. Fig. 5 is a similar view of the finished structure. Fig. 6 is a side elevation of Fig. 1, and Fig. 7 is a perspective view of the modified form of the invention.

A piece of heavy paper 1 is embossed or subjected to the action of a die to form a central struck-up portion 2 that has a rim 3 of any ornamental design or configuration, the result of this operation being shown in Fig. 2 of the drawing, an indentation 4 being formed in the struck-up portion so as to extend down through the rim 2 at the point where the stem of the watch is to be received. The central portion 2 is then cut out so as to present the blank as shown'in Fig. 3 of the drawings, and a paper ring 5 is mounted between the upper overhanging end of the rim 3 and a backing plate 6 which latter is secured to the base 1. A ring 7 which is covered with cloth 8 is secured to the ring 5, the lower edge of the ring 7 seating on the,backing 6, as depicted in Fig. 5 of the drawings. Cloth 9 is secured over the rim 3 and base 1 and extends over the edge of the latter. A bottom 10 which is covered with cloth 11 is placed on the interior of the ring 7 and seats on backing 6, and after the parts have been formed as above described, 21 finishing backing 12 is secured to the backing 6. It will be seen that the ring 7 is provided with a cut-out portion 13 that registers with the indented portion 4 to receive the watch stem, the winding member at the stem being received in the indented portion 4.

As shown in Figs. 1 and 6 of the draw ings abase plate 14 is secured in the bottom of the box and has cloth coveredstops 15 that are for engagement with a. support 16 that is hinged to base 1. In Fig. 7 of the drawings the'ornamental part of the rim 3 is omitted, and same is made so as to slope up to the ring 7 1n a gradual manner, t e

structure otherwise being the same as that described in the remaining figures, excepting that a large socket 4 is formed in the rim to receive the stem winder.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent;

1. In a watch case box, a cloth covered base having a cloth covered circular upstanding rim formed with an indented part,

a backing late secured to said base, a ring on the bee 'ng plate having its upper edge engaged with the top of the rim, a covered rin seating on the backing plate and exten ing above the rim and formedwith a cut-out part that registers with the indentation of the rim, a cloth covered bottom seating on the backing plate, and a finishing backing secured to the backing plate.

2. In a watch case box, a cloth covered base having a cloth covered circular up-- standing rim formed withan indented part,

a backing plate secured to said base, a ring on the backing plate having itsupper edge engaged-with the 'top of the rim, and a covered rin seating on the backing plate,

and extending above the rim and formed with a cut-out part that registers with the indentation of the rim.

3. In a watch case'box, a plate, a rim secured to the plate and having an overhanging upper end, a ring secured between the plate and said overhanging upper end of the rim, and a. second ring in the first named ring engaging the inner circumference of the latter and engaging said overhanging upper end of the rim and projecting above said upper end of the rim. 4. In a watch case box, a plate, a rim on the plate, a ring secured to the late and rim to brace the rim, and a secon ring seoeeeee 10 Watch stem, and e bottom which seats on the plate and engages the inner circumference of the second named ring.
