i citizen of the United States, and resident of Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Take-Up Mechanism for Sewing-Machines, of which 'A t-he following is'a specication.
My invention has for its object to' provide an improved take-up mechanism -for use in high-speed sewing machines of the type employing a rotary loop-taker which has a plurality of revolutions to each reciprocation of the needle.` lVhen a machine of this type is operated at a very high rate of speed,

The-' takeup lever, indicated at v15, is araplane parallel with the' face of the crank 10 and is here shown in the'form o fa straight rod tinedly connected at one end with,` a sleeve 16 pivotedV tothe frame of the machine at 17, and atits opposite end being provided with a forwardlyprojecting arm or Vextension 18 having an eye-therein for receiving the needle-thread y t at a point forward of t-he faceplate as shown. 3.- In a sewing machine,-thecombination with a reciprocating -needle-bar and its needle, a revoluble. crank .operatively connected 'with said needle-bar to.- actuate the same, a rotary loop-'taker operative in a vertical plane, and'means for giving said loop-taker a plurality of revolutions-to each reciprocation of the needle, of a pivoted take-up, and connections between the revoluble crank and said take-upfor operating the latter to increase its'speed after the cast-off of the thread loop by the loop-taker to draw said 'loop above the path of movement of the loop-taker'prior to the latter reaching loopj dle, `a revolublecrank carrying two crankj I pins .one of which is operatively connected atl-one side 'of the axis of said crank and in substantially the same .horizontal plane therewith, and a take-up lever supported by said"sleeves and having a fixed. connection 4withone anda slidable connection y with the: other; said parts being constructed, arranged, andl organized whereby the take-up will operate after. the cast-ott of the thread loop' by the loopftaker to draw said loop above. the path ot' movement of the looptaker prior to the latter reaching'loop-takingpositionat the completion of the irst of its said plurality of revolutions.

other being pivoted to a. stationary support at one side ofthe axis of said crank and in substantlally the same horizontal plane therewith, and a straight take-up lever sup-' ported by said sleeves at' one side of their 'axis of movement and having a iixed connection at one end with one-and a slidable. connection between itsends with the other; said. parts being constructed, arranged and 'organized whereby the crank-supported sleeve will be caused to slide from end to end of the take-up lever and operate the latter to control the thread with respect to the cooperating stitch-forming devicesyand in so doing, operate after the cast-oill of the thread loop by the loop-taker to draw said loop above the path of movement of the loop-talter prior'to the latter reaching loop-k taking position at thek Completion of theirstjof its said plurality of revolutions.
