To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, lVlIGHAEL VVINANDY, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the'city ofChicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Benches for Greenhouses, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in benches for green houses and has for its object a provision of a bench of this character which is of simple construction and readily assembled or taken apart.

The invention consists in the combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.

My invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which- Figure 1 is a partial side elevation of a florists bench embodying my invention, Fig. 9., a top plan view of the same with dirt bed thereof removed, and Fig. 3, a. section taken on line m-a2 of Fig. 1.

The preferred form of construction as illustrated in the drawings comprises a series of concrete posts or supports 1, arranged in alining pairs as shown. Each of said posts is provided at the top with an open semi-cylindrical recess adapted to loosely receive heating pipes 2 as shown. The posts 1 gradually increase in height from the left to the right of Fig. 1. so that the pipes 2 will be inclined upwardly at a slight inclination to the horizontal. A. hot water supply pipe 3 is arranged along the floor at the forward end of the bench just outside of the forward end supports 1 and branch pipes 4: connect supply pipe 3 with the forward ends of heating pipes 2 as shown. At their rear ends pipes 2 are connected by means of a pipe 5 which in turn is connected by means of a downwardly and forwardly extending pipe 6 with a drain pipe 7 arranged along the floor just inside of the supports 1 at the forward end of the bench. Anair vent pipe 8 is connected at the juncture between pipes 5 and 6 to permit the escape of air and facilitate circulation. A dirt bed support 9 which is in the form of a shallow rectangular box is arranged above pipes 2 and provided with cross ieces 10 extending across the bottom thereof in a plane corresponding with each pair of supports 1. rest upon the pipes 2 over posts 1 and are secured to said pipes by means of straps 11 engaging under said pipes and secured to the sides of cross pieces 10.

A florists bench constructed as above set forth is of simple construction and may be readily assembled or taken apart as desired. By arranging the supply and drain pipes as specified a good circulation is obtained, ready access is given to the supply pipe and both the supply pipe and drain pipe are out of the way of the florist.

While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capale of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. I therefore do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction as set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claims.

Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. In a construction of the class clescribed, a series of supports; heating pipes -arranged on said supports; a supply pipe connected with said heating pipes; a drain pipe for said heating pipes; an upwardly extending air vent pipe connected at its lower end with said heating pipes; and a dirt bed support arrangedabove said heating pipes, substantially as described.

2. In a construction of the class described, a series of supports; a pair of heating pipes arranged on said supports; a supply pipe arranged along the floor and connected with the same ends of said heating pipes; a pipe connecting the other ends of said heating pipes; a drain pipe arranged along the floor; a pipe connecting said drain pipe and said connecting pipe; and a dirt bed support arranged above and supported on said heating pipes, substantially as described.

In a construction of the class described; a series of supports; a pair of upwardly inclined heating pipes arranged on said supports; a supply pipe arranged along the floor and connected with the same ends of said heating pipes; a pipe connecting the other ends of said heating pipes; a drain pipe arranged along the floor; a downwardly inclined pipe connecting said drain pipe and said connecting pipe; an upwardly extending air vent pipe connected at the juncture between said connecting,

pipe and said downwardly inclined pipe; and a dirt bed support arranged above and supported on said heating pipes, substantially as described.

4. In a construction of the class described; a series of supports; a pair of heating pipes arranged on said supports; a supply pipe arranged along the floor and connected with the same ends of said heating pipes; a pipe connecting the other ends of said heating pipes; a drain pipe arranged along the floor; a pipe connecting said drain pipe and said connecting pipe; a dirt bed support arranged above said heating pipes; cross pieces arranged across the bottom of said dirt bed support and resting upon said heating pipes; and straps engaging under said heating pipes and secured to said cross pieces, substantially as described.

5. In a construction of the class described; a series of supports; a pair of upwardly inclined heating pipes arranged on said supports; a supply pipe arranged along the floor and connected with the same ends of said heating pipes; a pipe connecting the other ends of said heating pipes; a drain pipe arranged along the floor; a downwardly inclined pipe connecting said drain pipe and said connecting pipe; an upwardly extending air vent pipe connected at the juncture of said connecting pipe and said downwardly inclined pipe; a dirt bed support arranged above said heating pipes; cross pieces arranged across the bottom of said dirt bed support and resting upon said heating pipes; and straps engaging under said heating pipes and secured to said cross pieces, substantially as described.
