G. M. GENTHNER.
STOVE SUPPORT, APPLICATION FILED JULY 1,1912;

our
CHARLES 1V1. GENTHNER, OF MIDDLETOWN, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO WINCROFT STOVE WORKS, OF MIDDLETOWN, PENNSYLVANIA, A CORPORATION OF PENNSYL- VANIA.
STOVE-SUPPORT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 21, 1913.
Application filed July 1, 1912. Serial No. 707,066.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES M. GENTH- NER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Middletown, in the county of Dauphin and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stove-Supports, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improved stove support made up of separate leg and skirt sections which are conveniently and neatly fastened together without the use of bolts.
The invention is fully described in connection with the accompanying drawings and the novel features are specifically pointed out in the claims.
Figure 1 is an inside elevation showing a skirt and leg section fastened together. Fig. 2 is a similar view of the oppos1te end of the skirt section alone. Fig. 3 shows an edge View of said skirt section. Fig. 4 is an outside view of the corner leg section indicating a skirt section secured to one side thereof.
The drawing shows but one corner leg section b and one skirting section 0, but 1t will be readily understood that the use of a series of four of each is contemplated as in dicated. The sections are tightly assembled by merely dropping the skirt sections into locking engagement with the leg sectlons, the engaging parts being adapted to neatly draw together the respective meetlng edges 5 and 0 thereof and the weight of the stove when placed thereon serving only to more rigidly unite them; and the connected sections are conveniently held together for handling as a unitary structure, by means of removable retaining pins cl as hereinafter fully described. 4
Each corner leg section b is provided with similar upper and lower joint-lapping tongues, 10 and 10' respectively, each lylng inside of a meeting edge I) and having a top locking notch 11 giving a U-shape thereto. The outer member 12 of the lower U-shaped tongue 10 as shown, has an upward extension which is provided on its outer skirtcontacting face 13 with a transverse groove 14 adapted to form in connection with a coacting groove or clearance way 14* in the opposing contacting face 15 of the assembled skirt, a passage-way for the retaining pin (Z previously mentioned. The locking notches 11 of the upper and lower tongues are arranged in a plane parallel with the vertical meeting edges, as shown, the two lower tongues on each leg however being spread apart farther than the upper ones to correspond with the outward-flare of the skirt.
Each skirt section a is provided with similar upper and lower locking lugs 20, lying in the same plane as the tongue notches 11 of the connected sections. They project inwardly from the contacting inner faces 15 of the skirt and are provided with bottom notches 21 giving them an inverted U-shape. The contacting faces of the locking-lugs 20 of the skirt and of the locking tongues of the legs being relatively tapered so as to draw together the meeting edges 7) and c as adj acent sections are assembled. The skirt section is also provided with retaining-pin lugs 25 located above the lower notched locking lugs 20, and adapted to coiiperate with the grooved tongue in holding the inserted retaining pin cl so as to prevent unintended disengagement of the combined sections.
In assembling the sections to form the stove-supporting structure, the skirt sections are merely dropped into engagement with the leg sections, the weight of the former pressing the meeting edges of the sections together as the contacting faces of the skirt lugs 20 and leg tongues 10 come into close contact. By inserting a retaining pin d at each joint the connection of the sections may be secured so as to enable free handling of the support as a unitary structure while at the same time permitting of the sections being quickly disassembled when desired.
What I claim is 1. A stove support comprising leg sections each provided at each meeting edge with upper and lower joint-lapping tongues having locking notches, and skirt sections each pro vided with inwardly projecting reversely notched lugs adapted to engage said tongues, the contacting faces of the engaging parts being tapered to draw together the meeting edges of the sections.
2. A stove support comprising leg sections each provided at each meeting edge with upper and lower j oint-lapping tongues having locking notches, and skirt sections each provided with inwardly projecting reversely notched lugs adapted to engage said tongues, contacting faces of the engaging parts being provided with registering retaining pinways substantially as set forth.
3. Astove support comprising leg sections to cooperate with said retaining-pin lugs, 10' each provided at each meeting edge with substantially as set forth.
