RAZOR-STROP.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT W. FLOYD, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Razor-strop, of which the following is a specification.
It is the object of the present invention to provide a razor strop, having upon a single face, communicating honing and stropping areas, capable of individual use.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the com bination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is .claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings,Figure 1 shows the invention in front elevation; parts being broken away; Fig. 2 is a section upon the line AB of Fig. l; and Fig. 3 is an elevation of the strop, at full length.
The strop is a composite structure, com prising a stropping area 1, and a honing area 2, the strop being provided with suit-- able suspension means 3, and with a handle 4:.
The stropping area 1 may be fashioned in any desired manner. Preferably, however, the stropping area 1 consists of plain leather, and the honing area 2 consists of canvas, or leather treated specially, so as to present an abrasive surface.
The stropping area 1 is preferably of greater extent than the honing area 2.
These areas 1 and 2, are as the drawing will 40 clearly show, longitudinally continuous and in communication, so that, in a single stroke, the razor may pass from one of these areas to the other. Moreover, the areas 1 and 2 are capable of individual use, as the drawing will clearly show. The areas 1 and 2 are located upon each face of the strop, so that either area, or both, may be used, without reversing the strop. It is to be noted that the stropping area 1 and the honing area 2 both extend the full width of the strop. Thus each area engages, unbrokenly, so much of the blade of the razor as may be included between the edges of the strop. This is an important consideration in connection with machines for stropping safety razor blades, it being recalled that these machines ordinarily move the blade in a straight line, from one end of the strop to the other. Thus, in the device of the present invention, an even and uniform edge may be given to the razor.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is A razor strop having longitudinally continuous honing and stropping areas, capable of individual use, the meeting edges of which areas are unobstructed, to permit the passage of a razor blade from one area to the other. 70
