- I a. '12: gm aw k INVENTOR A TTORIVE Y be folded and p the transportation LEON FEIST, OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY.
BAG-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed February 16,. 1911.
Patented Dec. 31, 1912. Serial No. 609,005.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEON FEIST, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bag-Holders, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make, construct, and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, forming a part of this specificatlon.
This invention relates to bag holders for of waste paper bags around oiiice buildings, schools, hotels, and the like, where it is necessary to employ bag holders which may be conveniently moved through narrow halls, transported upon elevators and the like, and which olders must be made to occupy the least possible space, in order that they may be conveniently and economically handled.
The object of this invention is therefore to provide a bag holder of this character which shall be simple in construction, durable and inexpensive and capable of being easily handled, which, when not in use, may be folded into small compass, so that it may be conveniently stored, and to enable a considerable number of such bag holders to stored away to economize space.
With this and other objects in view, the
invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim, and in the drawings, in Which- Figure l is a side elevation of my improved bag holder. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same; and Fig. 3 is a plan view of the bag holder folded, ready for being stored away, the dust pan and broom holder not being shown.
Similar letters of parts throughout drawings.
The bag holder or stand comprises essentially four light, framework sections a, b, 0 and d, all of which are constructed of material sufiiciently'stout and durable to resist any strain to which the device in practical use may be subjecte The sections a, b, c and d are composed of upper and lower reference refer to like the specification and horizontal members 9, 72,, Z and m and vertical connecting slats or strips lettered respectively b, 0' and d. The four sections are conveniently hinged together at their upper and lower corners by means of the hin es e. The stand is mounted upon swivele caster wheels f, so as to afford a support for the stand which will enable the latter to be readily rolled through the halls and aisles and into the rooms and offices 10% office buildings, schools, hotels and the The members 9 and it of the sections a and I) are each provided at the ends thereof with screw-eyes z and j, adapted to be engaged by hooks k, which are pivotally connected with the members Z and m of the frame sections a and d for fastening the sections a, b, c, and d in the proper relative position, it being understood, however, that other well-known and approved connecting means may be substituted within the scope of the invention. It is also preferred that each of the members 9, k, Z and m be provided near the upper edge, preferably on the outside thereof, with buttons or other fastening means n, providing securing means to which the marginal edge of a cam vas bag 1' may be secured, the body of said bag being designed to be suspended in the folding stand and carried thereby, as clearly indicated in the dotted lines. The hooks or other fastening devices is will serve to firmly connect the frame work sections at the corners, thus constituting a firm, and comparatively rigid structure, carrying a bag or the like. A receptacle 0 can also be conveniently arranged to any one of the frame work sections of the stand to receive dusting cloths, or the like. This receptacle 0 can be hooked on to the fastening means 11, in any well-known manner.
For the reception of brooms, dusters, and the like, I have provided the frame-work section 6, near its upper and lower extremities, with racks p, which may be secured to the section by means of a bracket 9.
It is desired to be understood that this improved folding stand may be manufactured of any desired material, or combination of materials, which may be found most advantageous for the purpose of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings, I have illustrated a simple and preferred form of my invention, it being understood, however. that no limitation is necessarily made to the precise structural details therein exhibit-ed that the right is reserved to any changes, alterations and modifications which come fairly within the scope of the claim, and which may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the same.
I claim:
In a device of the class described, a portable bag stand adapted to be folded when not in use, consisting of a plurality of rectangular skeleton frame sections, each comprising upper and lower horizontal members and vertical connecting slats and strips, said frame sections being hingedly connected together to fold along the vertical edges thereof, means secured on the inside of. the
upper horizontal members of said frame sections for holding the same in proper relation, and adapted to be connected across the corners when the stand is unfolded means projecting outwardly from the upper horizontal members of said frame sections for holding a bag suspended within said stand and rollers secured to the lower horizontal frame members of said sections adapted to support said stand and render the same portable.
This specification signed and witnessed this 10th day of February, 1911.
