SKIRT-HOLDER.

To ZZ whom/15 may concern Be it known that I, HARRY DUBBS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fredericksburg, in the county of Lebanon and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Skirt-Holders, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to a skirt holder and adjuster and has for its primary object to provide a device of this character in which a skirt may be raised the desired height and held in such position so as to prevent the same dragging when being worn and also to avoid t-he necessity of holding the said skirt lifted by the hands of the wearer, thus giving free use of the hands of such wearer.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a skirt holder in which a skirt may be raised the desired height and held fastened, thereby avoiding the necessity of attention thereto by the user as well as obviating lifting of the skirt by hand.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a skirt holder which when applied to the skirt is neat in appearance, simple in construction, reliable and efficient in its purpose and inexpensive in manufacture.

lVith these and other objects in view the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement o-f parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described in detail, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.

Referring to the drawings by numerals, 5 designates generally a skirt which is made in the ordinary well known manner and on Specification of Letters Patent.

The skirt holder comprises a main pull cord 6 formed at one end with a plurality of branches 7` the same being stitched or otherwise secured at spaced points with respect to each other to the skirt preferably at the rear thereof, while the opposite end of the main cord 6 is passedthrough an ordinary eyelet 8 in this inst-ance two of such eyelets are shown fastened in the skirt contiguous to the waist band 9 thereof and at the hip portions of the said skirt so that the cord may be trained through either of these eyelets should it be desired, the outer end of the main cord 6 being provided with a tassel 10 for ornamenting the same. Adapted to be secured to the skirt 5 adjacent to either of the said eyelets 8 is a clip comprising a pair of pivotally connected jaws 11 one of which being fixed to the skirt 5, the jaws being closed by means of a spring 12 supported by the pivot 13 connecting the jaws. The jaws are formed with inturned ends 14: overlapping each other, one of the said ends being formed with a guide eye 15 through which is trained the main cord 6, the latter being also trained through a guide eye 16 in the outermost jaw of the clip, it being seen that the inturned end 14 of the other jaw will pinch the cord or grip the same so as to hold it in adjusted posit-ion. Upon pulling upon the cord 6 the skirt may be raised the desired height and to accomplish this the clip is opened permitting the cord to freely slip through the clip and upon closing thereof said cord will be gripped thereby holding the same in adjusted position, and thus sustaining the skirt raised.

From the foregoing it is thought that the construction and operation of the invention will be apparent, and therefore, a more eX- tended explanation has been omitted.

What is claimed is:
