IMPROVEMENT IN HEATING-STOVES.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent andmaking part of the same To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES B. Wanmxo, of Poughkeepsie, in the county of Dntohess and State of New York, have'invcnted a new and useful Improvement in Stoves; and I do hereby declare that the following is afull, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification.

This invention relates to improvements in stoves; and consists in a detachable coal-magazine or basebnrning attachment for heating-stoves, adapted for application to stoves of any kind having an opening at the top.

The drawing represents a sectional elevation of a common cylinder-stove having my improved magazine or base-burning attachment applied.

I provide a magazine, A, of any form suited to rest on the top of any stove, and. having a tubularextension, 13, from the bottom, made small enough to pass down through the hole 0 in the top of the stove, and

of such length as may be required for the stove tov which it is to be applied, or the said extension may have a telescopic extension, D, fitted to slide up and down on it, and to be supported in any suitable way higher or lower thereon.

This attachment may be placed onany stovehaving room on the top, and thereby utilize it asa baseburning stove.

The part A has a cover at the top, which may be removed for supplying the coal.

The extension D, which is exposed to the action of the heat, so as to be burned out, may be renewed from time to time, while the other part will be protected by it and last a long time.

Having thus described my invention,

1'. claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A detachable base-burning magazine attachment for cylinder and other heating-stoves, consisting of the magazine A, extension B, and either the telescopic extension D, or not, arranged and applied to the said stoves, substantially as specified.
