` Be it known that I, EDWARD ALEXANDER MATTHIAS, a' subject ofthe King of Great Britain, and resident of Liverpool, Eng* land, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Means for Fastening the Lids ofl Packing-Cases, of which the following is a specification. i

This invention relates to improvements in that type of packing case which is adapted to be closed by means of a detachable lid p which may be readily removedy or reinserted without the necessity of nailing or similar modes of fastening liable to destroy t-hel structure of the case in course of time.

The'features of the present invention consist in providing the ends of the case with overhanging bands or the like of'different widths, and in fitting the lid with a spring locking plate whereby the Vlid may be inserted beneath the bands orl the like by means of a to and fromy longitudinal movenient and then secured init-s engaged position by the spring looking plate, means being alsoA provided forsealing the locking plate. c
