The inventinrelates to saw handles and ancre 4partcu larly to the class of detachable saw Yhandles."eu The primaryyobject of the 'invent-ion is the provision ofv a handle in which the saw lblade may' be'freadily andeasily attached "thereto and detached therefrom, the handle l'being applicable to various types of saw blades and more especially to cross-cut saw blades.

Another object of the invention is the f provision'of a handle which is so construct- `a() ed as to be attachable to and detachable .from any of the ordinary cross-cut saws `without requiring the employment of tools. Iiiurther object'of the invention is the p i'iovision of a handle which is simple of 2 5 construction, capable of being rigidly clamped to a saw blade and that is inexlv-pcns1ve yin manufacture.

The bolt-'19 has engaged therewith on its threaded end a winged adjusting nut 20 which is adapted to work against the abutment plate le, connecting the saw blade 11 to the hl'andle.

Mounted for swinging movement upon the bolt 19 rearwardly of the cheek or eX- tension 18 is a catch 21 the same being connected lto the bolt 19 'by means of apivot 22. This catch -21 is adapted to lie on one side of the saw blade 11 while the cheek the same, the catch 21 being provided with.

a notch 23 for receiving one of the studs 17, the stud engaged by the catch provided with areducled portion 24 which is adapted to enter the notch 23 when the catch has been 80 swung to a position for locking engagement with the said stud thereby fastening the handle rigidly with the sawblade.

The cheek or extension 18 between the lugs 17 is provided with a tapered medially arranged; spear shaped boss 25 which is adapted to bc snugly fitted within a correspondingly shaped slot formed in the saw blade 11, the
