kBe it known that I, 'WILLIAM H. ANDER, a citizen of the ,United States,-and a resident of Long Branch, in thel county of Monmouth and State of New Jersey, 'have invented a new and Improved Concrete- Mold, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to concrete molds and it has for its object to provide one hav-k ing a bottom member which may be conV` veniently rotated and lowered so that a detachable end member will rest on the ground, the mold being provided with side members which have clamps for engaging the detachableend member, and means by which the side members are' moved laterally relatively to the bottom member.Y f

` By referringk to the drawings it will be seen that a frame is provided, consisting of the side members 5, which are connected by a transverse member 6, which is right angular in cross section, this transverse member 6 being riveted to the side members 5 at 7. Supporting wheels 8 are journaled inthe `sides 5 of the frame. The top of the side members 5 have bearing surfaces 9, on which the bearings 10 of the bearing members 11 are adapted to rest, these bearing members 11 having guide ,members 12, which are' disposed in the guideways 13, secured to the side members 5. Two side members 38 are provided, these side members resting normally on the body member 22, the body member 22 .having lateral `projections 39, which are adapted to support the sidemembers 38 when theyl are moved outwardly. Straps 40 are secured to the outer sides of the side lmembers'38,and in these straps 40 A there are disposed tiedmembers 41, the tie members 41 having straps 42 in which are disposed the terminals 37 of the tie vmembers 36.y
Blocks 43 are secured to the sides of the side members 38, so that when the tie mem* 'bers 36 are drawninwardly, they will carry i with them the side members without anyv lost motion. The clamping kmembers `41 have flanges 44, vwhich are normally disposed in recesses 45, in the removable endmember 46 of the mold. Springs v47 are provided one for each of the 4clamping members 41, the
springs connecting the clamping members with one set of straps 40, so that the clamp#y ing members 41 will be held yieldingly in a" f predetermined position relativelyto theside members 38, the end member 25 of the mold having lateral projections 48, each with a slot 49, the clamping members 41 being disposed in these slots 49. The head members 50 are provided with threaded orifices in which the terminals 51 of the clamping members 41 are disposed, nuts 52 being provided for engaging the threaded terminals 51 to lock the head members 50 in position.
Articulated to the head members 50 one at each side, there are links 53, these links 53 being connected by a transverse member 54 to abut against the terminals 51 of the clamping members for moving the said terminals inwardly. rlhe link members 53 have terminals 55, which rest against the rear of the lateral projections 48 of the end member 25. To the terminals 55 of the links 58 there are articulated brackets 56, the brackets 56 at each side of the machine being riveted to rods 57, the rods 57 being articulated to wrist pins 58, secured to the wheel 30. rThe wheel 30 is provided with a crank 59, by which it may be conveniently turned.
Projecting` from one of the bearings 10 there is a journal 6G, to which a head member 61 is articulated on an axis which is vertical when the body member is in horizontal or normal position. Secured to this head member 61 thereV is an arm 62, with a hook 63, the hook 6B being adapted to engage and rest in the recess 64, in the bracket 65, which is integral with one of the side members 5. A lever 66 is secured to the head member 61, the aXis of the lever being at right angles to the axis otl the pivot 67, which connects the head member 61 with the journal 60. A transverse member 6 is provided with a threaded head 68, in which meshes a screw 69, the screw 69 being provided to engage the body member 22 at 70, and serve as a stop for the body member.
In using the invention the side members 38 and the removable end member 46 are disposed in position with the flanges 44 engaging the recesses 45 in the removable end member, and withthe clamping members 41 drawnv rearwardly and toward the center line of the machine to lock the side and removable end members, the mold formed by the body member the side members and the end members, is filled with concrete. rI`he device is then moved into a position where the operator desires to remove the concrete which is disposed in the mold. The operator moves the lever 66 toward the center line of the machine, which disengages the hook 63 from the recess 64, in the bracket, and he then raises the lever 66 to rotate the mold to the position shown in F ig. 5 of the drawings. The lever 21 is then raised slowly, the movement o f the cams 19 permitting the cams 15 to move downwardly and with them the bearing members 12. In this way the mold is moved toward the ground until the removable end member 46 rests on the ground. The operator then rotates the wheel 30 by means of the crank 59, so that the rods 57 are moved outwardly, and the arms 34 of the levers 38 are moved inwardly. This movement of the wheel 30 will move the links 53 into the position shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings which will draw the clamping members 41 outwardly, and with them the rear of the side members 38, andalso free their flanges 44 from the recesses 45. At the same time the movement of thellevers 83 will move the tie members 36 outwardly. As the clamping members 41 and the tie members 36 are moved outwardly they will carry with them the side members 38, and will permit the operator to raise the mold by a downward movement of the lever 21, the concrete being deposited on the removable end member 46, and being disengaged from the body member 22 of the mold, when it is raised. As the sidevmembers 38 have been moved away from the concrete by the rotation of the wheel 30, only one surface of the mold is in contact with the concrete when the body member is raised. However, if desired, the device may be moved rearwardly from the concrete so that the concrete will no longer be in contact with any member of the mold, when the body member is raised by the downward movement of the member 21. After the body member has been raised as has been described the lever 66 is operated to bring the body member to a horizontal position, as it is moved outwardly, so that the hooks 63 will be again disposed in the bracket 65. Another end member 46 is then provided, and is disposed in position, when by a rotary movement of the crank 59 the ianges 46 on the clamping members 41 will be locked in the recesses 45, in the new end member 46, and, at the same time, the side members 38 will be drawn inwardly, and will be locked with the end member 86, to permit of the re-illi'ng of the mold. It will be understood that when the clamping members 41 are moved to lock their tlanges 44 in the recesses 45 in the new end member 46, the springs 47 will draw the side members 38 into place.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. In a concrete mold a frame having a vertical guideway, a bearing member for traveling in the guideway, a body member journaled in the bearing member, means for supporting the bearing member in adjusted position in the guideway, a side member movable laterally relatively to the body member, a removable end member, a clamping member normally engaging the end member for holding the end member in position relatively to the body member when the Ytraveling kin the guideway, a body member n journaled V1n the bearing member, means for supporting the bearing member in adjusted position inthe guideway, a side member .p movable laterally relatively,A to the body Y member, al removable' end member, a elamping vmember normally engaging the end member, for holding the end member in positionrelatively to the body member when y lthe body member isdisposed horizontally,

In `a concrete mold a body member having a front end anda laterally extend-y ing ymember at the rear of the front end, a side member movable laterally relatively to ,the body member, a removable end memberV normally disposed atthe front end of the body member, a clamping member engagingV y the removable end member and extending rearwardly beyond the second member, means by which the clamping member is adapted for moving the side member, a link pivoted at one end to the reary of the clamping member and engaging the second member at the other end, and ymeansfor moving the last-mentioned end of the link relatively to the body member.

a tiemeniber having means for engaging the side member for moving the latter.
9. In a Concrete mold a bodyfmember, twoy side members movable laterally relatively to the body member, two tie members, means by which the tie members are adapted for moving the side members, a wheel journaled to the body member, and having an eccentric groove and two levers ulcrumed to the bottom of the body member, one set of terminals of the levers being disposed for traveling in the eccentric groove, the other set of terminals being pivoted to the tie members.
10. In a concrete mold a body member, a side member movable relatively to the body member, a removable end member, a clamping member having a flange for engaging the end member to hold the end member in normal position, a tie member, means by which the tie member is adapted for moving the side member, a wheel journaled to the body member, and means by which the wheel is adapted to operate the tie and clamping members.

In a concrete mold a body member, a side member, movable laterally relatively to the body member, a removable end member, a clamping member for holding the end member in a normal position, a tie member, means by which the tie member is adapted for moving the side member, a wheel journaled to the body member and having a cam groove, means by which the wheel is adapted to operate the clamping member, a lever fulcrumed to the body member, one arm of the lever being disposed in the cam groove, and means by which the other arm of the lever is adapted for operating the tie member.
1Q. ln a concrete mold a bdy member, a side member movable relatively to the body member, and a removable end member normally disposed at one end of the body member, a clamping member for holding the removable end member in normal position, the clamping member having a terminal extending away from the said end of the body member, a tie member, means by which the tie member is adapted for moving the side member, a wheel journaled to the body member, means by which the wheel is adapted to operate the tie member, a link pivoted to the said terminal of the clamping member, the link extending in the direction of the said end of the body member and engaging the body member, the link being adapted to move the clamping member longitudinally and laterally relatively to the body member, and a rod connected with the link and articulated to a wrist pin o-n the wheel.
13. In a concrete mold a body member, two side members movable relatively to the body member, a removable end member normally disposed at one end of the body member, two clamping members for holding the removable end member in normal position,
the clamping members having terminals eX- tending away from the said end of the body member, links pivoted at one set of ends to the said terminals of the clamping members, the links extending in the direction of the said end of the body member, and engaging the body member, the links being adapted to move the clamping members longitudinally and laterally relatively to the body member, a wheel having cam grooves, rods articulated to the wheel and to the links, a tie member having means for moving the side members, levers fulcrumed to the body member, one set of arms of the levers being disposed in the cam grooves, and the other set of arms of the levers being pivoted to the tie members.
14. In a concrete mold a body member, two side members having straps and movable relatively to the body member, a removable end member normally disposed at one end of the body member, two clamping members disposed in the straps and engaging the removable end member, the clamping members having terminals extending away from the said end of the body member, links pivoted to the said terminals of the clamping members, the links extending in the direction of the said ends of the body member, and engaging the body member, means on the links for engaging the sides of the clamping member, respectively, the links being` adapted for moving the clamping members longitudinally and laterally relatively to the body member, a wheel having cam grooves, rods pivoted to the wheel and to the links, tie members having means for moving the side members, and levers fulcrumed to the body members one set of arms of the levers being disposed in the cam grooves the other set of arms being pivoted to the tie members.
l5. ln a concrete mold a body member, a side member movable relatively to the body member, a removable end member, a clamping member engaging the end member, means by which the clamping member is adapted for moving the side member, the clamping member having a terminal extending in the direction of the other end of the body member, two links pivoted at opposite sides of the clamping member, the links extending in the direction of the irst-mentioned end of the body member and engaging the body member, a transverse member connecting the links and engaging the side of the clamping member, so that the links with the transverse member are adapted to move the clamping member longitudinally and laterally relatively to the body member, and a rod secured to the links by which they are adapted to be operated.

In a concrete mold a ramehaving a vertical guideway, a bearing member disposed for moving in the gnideway, a body member journaled in the bearing member, a detachable end member for the body inember, a member pivoted to the frame on which the bearing member rests, means for supporting and operatingthe pivoted member so that when the body member has been r0- ta-t-ed to a vertical position with the detachable end member downward, the body member may be lowered to the ground by op'- erat-ing the pivoted member for lowering the bearing member in the verticalguideway and the detachable end member resting on the ground may be freed from the body member.

In a concrete mold a frame, a bearing supported on the frame, a body member journaled iii the bearing, a lever fulcrumed to the body member on an axis at an angle to the axis of the bearing, and a hook onv the lever for engaging the frame for supporting the body member, the lever being adapted for moving the hook away from the member of the `trainefand for rotating the body member.

In a concrete mold a body member, an end member, clamping members engaging the end member, and movable longitudinally and laterally, side members, loops on the side members through which the clamping members are disposed, springs connecting the side members with the clamping members, and means for moving the clamping members longitudinally and laterally, for operating the side members and for engaging and disengaging the end member.

In a concrete mold a frame having a vertical guideway, a bearing member for traveling in the guideway, a body member j ournaled in the bearing member, means for supporting thev bearing member in adjusted position in the guideway, a removable end member, and a clamping member normally enga-ging the end member for holding the end member in position relatively to the body member when the body member is disposed horizontally, the clamping member being adapted to be disengaged from the end member, to permit the end member to re main on the ground free from the body member, when the body member is disposed. vertically, and has been lowered by the downward movement of the bearing member in the guideway.
