subject of the Emperor of Germany, and a resident of Essen-on-the-Ruhr, Germany,
' have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tilting Ammunition-Wagons,-
of which the following isa specification.
The present invention relates 'to tilting ammunition wagons and the object of the invention is to provide a protecting root from the enemys fire for the cannoneers standing behind the ammunition chest, by shifting the armor plate foot-board.
The invention affords the advantage that the arrangement of turn-over seats for the cannoneers, which have hitherto been employed. to protect them against steeply talling splinters of shells, or the necessity of carrying special protective shields for the same purpose, is rendered superfluous. I
In the drawing is illustrated one embodiment of the invention wherein- Figure 1 shows a side elevation of an ammunition wagon, partly in section with the ammunition chest tilted; Fig. "2, a top plan view of the ammunition wagon in traveling position.
A denotes the ammunition chest and B the armor plate foot-board. They are both made easily detachable from each other by means of the hinges a b and key bolts, Fig. 1. In the traveling position of the ammunition -wagon two hinged bars C, connected with the foot-board'B at one end, and with the front wall A of the ammunition chest A at the. other end keep the foot-board in place.

In a tilting ammunition Wagon having an ammunition chest, an armor plate footbetween said footboard and said chest, whereby said footboard may be 'swungfrom its normal into a protecting position for the cannoneers when the ammunition chest is tilted from its normal position, by partly detaching said connections.
