This invention relates to eaves troughs, and has for its object to, provide a trough prevented from collecting in the bottom thereof and is carried away by the action of the wet/er. v A further object is to provide a novel trough and hanger therefor, ,the 7 getbeing bent from wireandengaglng e trough in a novel'manner. p t. ith the above and other objects in view invention is embodied in the novel orend construction of parts as here-' r described, the invention being illneed in the accompanying drawings, wherem;- v
1 is a fragmented repectiveof the eevce trough constructed in accordance with the present invention and showing the hanger applied thereto. Fig. 2 is an and elevation of the tron h. Eater-ring in data to the drawin the trough is 'ormed from a. length 0 sheet mete! of suitablecharacter, bent lon itudineily to form the bottom 1 which is nt at en obtnee angle, the sides 2 which are at an ehtnee angle to the bottom,.and the edges of which are inturncd to form flan a 3. 31a eontcnr the trough in eemi-octagona The water in running into the trough from the root usually comes with it soot and other toreign matter, and thus upon the in running into the corner formed by the obtuse angle, the sediment is washed into eeid corner and agitated or kept in suspension whereby the water in traveling along the said corner carries away the cediment. In this manner the trough is kept e from sediment and the life thereof 13 ethened to a material extent.
ta l ithe trench is provided with the intnrned or "engee 3: for the. purpme [of the eemeand aleo-for the atnentjofthe hanger which in bent from.
wire-Ito re a ni ndtcoub e end. lateral brace 5 1 fitting betwcen the i "on and having an eye d'htbeetndthereof resting" u on the corresponding fflangennd projecting slightly beyond the :trough andmcatclnlO at-thc saidiendnbntting\against the corresponding flange 3 and engagin thereinunder, and at the other end the said brace has a similar catch 9 abutting: against and engaging in under the other flange 8 thereby retaining the brace in position. From the latter end of the brace a stand 6 passes over the corresponding flange and encircles the outer side of the trough and has its .free end passed through the projectin end of the eye 8 and bent outward as eeignated at 7 and from the central portion of the brace 5 the wire is formed into a twisted suspending arm 22 upstanding therefrom. Following the wire from end to end, one end oi? the wire is formed into the catch 9 and the wire then extends to the arm 4 then to the upper end thereof and back to the lower end at the said arm, then to the other end of the brace 5 to be looped to form the eye 8 and adjacent theeaid eye is doubled end twisted to form the catch 10, and then the wire extends to the other end of the brace 5 the other and of the wire being free and forming the trough-encircling strand 6. The brace it prevents the sides 2 of the trough from bemg pressed inwardly and the strand 6 locks the sides of thetrough from being distended or otherwise distorted.
In applying the hanger to the trough tin brace 5 is inserted therein in a diagona position and then ewung to a tranevere position to bring the catches 9 and 10 it under the fienges 8, and the strand 6 is the: passed around the trough and engaged witi the e e 8. The arm 4 of the hanger is en cure to theeave of the root in any con venient manner, thereby suspending thi trough from the cave. The brace 5 in bcin, locked to the flanges 3 by the catches 9 an 10 is also revented from releasing th trough ahou d the strand 6 become ace. dentally disengaged from the eye 8. It wil therefore beiseen that the particular for: of bottom of the trough prevents the acct mulation' of eediment in a trough and that novel combination is rovided between ti- :e ciiic form of troug having the inturnc age/sand the specific hanger.
