This invent-ion relates to electric lighting, and some of tlieobjects of my improvement are, simplicity of construction and operation, to show light on. both sides of a sign or partition with a single lamp, to save lamps, to save current, to save labor and expense in installation, and saving in maintenance. These and other objects I attain by means of the structure illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which f Figure 1 is a side elevation of the lamp and a sectional detail view of the socket and a fragment of a sign or partition; Fig. 2, av

The globe, 1, is preferably cylindrical-in cross section at its middle and substantially hemispherical at each end. The globe is thus axially transparent.
Two cylindrical screw threaded rings, 2
and 3, are secured on the cylindrical middle port-ion of globe 1, an insulating space, 4, being left between them. One of these rings, 2, :is provided with a stop flange, 5, which sertes to limit the inward movement of the lamp when screwed into its socket and determine the symmetric positioning of the lamp in a sign or partitio The filament, 6, may be connected by one of its ends to ring 2 at 7, by means of the conventional platinum wire which is sealed in the glass of the globe, and by its opposite end to ring 3 at, 8, inthe same manner. It may be held by a support, 9, at 10, 11, and 12. The-support 9 may be secured to the glass by inserting in a lug, 13.
In the modification, Fig. 2, the connections for the filament pass through lug 13 and are secured to the rings 2 and 3 imme-. diately at the lug, and the filament is supported at 10, 11, and 1 1. The filament may be arranged in any suitable manner. rings 2 and 3 form the poles for the lamp.
A two part socket is provided, comprising sockets, 15 and 1G,.arranged in axial alinement, or a single socket, 15, may extend en tirely across bot-h rings 2 and 3. The socket 15 comprises an insulating bushing, 17, made preferably of porcelain, and a metal lining, 18, made preferably of sheet metal. screw, 19, or other suitablemeansfor 0on necting wires, 20, is provided in electrical connection with lining 18. In the front washer, 21, which forms a protecting face and serves to prevent breaking the lamp if wall of bushing 17 is secured a soft rubber 2 preferably made with two Walls, 23 and 24,
with a space, 25, left between them. The wires 20 may be applied between the walls 23 and 24:, in space 25 and thus be concealed and protected.
It will be understood that the lamp may .be inserted in the socket from either side,
and is stopped in proper symmetrical and operative position by flange 5 engaging washer 21. Having thus described my invention, so that anyone skilled in the art pertaining thereto'may understand its construction and use, I claim-- 1 1. An incandescent electric lamp, comprising a double-ended globe, and a pair of pole rings secured around the middle portion of said globe.
2. An incandescent electric lamp, comprising a double-ended globe, a pair of pole rings secured around the middle portion of said globe, and a filament having an .end connected'with each of said pole rings.
3. An incandescent electric lamp, comprising a double-ended globe, apair of pole rings around the middle portion of said globe, andv a. stop flange on the outer edge of with and roviding electrical connecting for one of said pole rings.
