Be it known that I, FRANK C. WATSON, a. 'citizen of the United States, residing at DesMoines, in the county of Polk and' State of Iowa, have inventeda new and useful Calibur-eter, of which the following is a specification.

In the accompanying drawings, I- have used the referencenumeral 10 to indicate the body of the carburetin'g chamber of a carybureter, which is substantially cylindrical in form. lAbove the'body'lO is a detachable top portion 11. At one side of the body 10 is a discharge opening 12, in which is a i. throttle valve 13 of ordinary construction'.
"In thelower end of the body l0 is an air intaketube 14. At one side of the body is a easing 15 of suitable form to receive the y parts hereinafter described. Connecting the intake tube 14 with the interior 'of the casing 15, is a passage way 1G. In the top 11 is a screw threaded opening in which is mounted a screw 17, on the outer end of=which is a head 18. ln the inner end of the screw 17 is a longitudinal opening lor recess 19. The intake tube 14 extends within the carburetor body 10 to a point abovevthe bottom wall 2Q of the bodv 10. Resting on the upper end of the intake tube 14 is an umbrella shaped valve 21 having. a circumferential dowiiw'ardly extendino flange 22 outside the tube 14, extending at an acute angle4 from the upper end thereof. Slidably mounted in the lower end of the opening 19 is the upper end of a rod 23, the
lower end of which is secured to the valve 21. Upon the' valve 21, is a central down- 75 wardly extendingv lug 24. Between the lower end ot the screw 17 and the upper side of the valve 21 is an extensible coil spring 23a. Mounted within the casing 15, is a lever 25,
a port-ion of which extends through the opening 16 to a point bellow the lug 24. A link 26 is pivoted to the, end of the lever 25 and'to the lug' 211. The other end 27 of the'v lever 25 is forked as shown -in Fig. 3. Slidably mounted in the casing 15 so as to be '85 capable of horizontal sliding movement, is a fulcrum 28, which rests beneath the forked portion 27 oi' the lever 25. rlhe ulcrum 28 is provided with a screw threaded, longitudinal opening in which is mounted a screw1 90 29, which extends -to a point outside the casing' 15 and is provided at its outer end with a head 30. The screw 29'is rotatably* mounted in the wall of the casing 15 and I fix washers 31 on the'screw29 on each side 95 of said wall. .In the upper portionof the casing 15 near the b'ody 10, isat s{:rew threaded opening in which,v is mounted' a screw on which is a head 33. The inner end oi'' the'screw 32is provided with a loii- 100v gitudinal. recess or opening 34.' Pivotally secured to the lever 25 is a rod 35, the upper end of which is slidingly received in the opening 3&1. Between the lower end of the screw 32 and the lever 25 is mounted .an eX- 1054` tensible coil spring 36.0n therod35.

and the spring 36 are so arranged that the weight of one end of the lever25 tends to draw Asaid lever downwardly.
