new and useful linprovements in Filing Devices, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to improven'ients in filing devices, as described in the following specification andillustrated in the acconr panying drawings that form part of the same.

The invention consists essentially in the novel construction and arrangement of parts, whereby the. sheets tiled are suspended upon a telescopic member having the outer movable portion supported from a slidable frame. Y

The objects of the invention are, to facilitate the filing and removal of large sheets such as garment patterns, and to devise a filing device which will allow the quick selection and removal of any pattern desired without the necessity of handling the others on the file, thereby effecting a considerable. saving of time and also obviating the mutilation of the patterns. In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspec tive view of the improved filing device shown in its closed position and showing a number of sheets filed thereon representing patterns or other sheets. F ig. 2 is a perspective view showing the device distended and illustrating the method of removing the desired sheet. Fig. 3 is a perspective detail of a slightly modified form of the supporting frame construction. l ig. 4 is a small perspective view of a modified form.

Referring to the drawings, 1 is the rigid portion of the device in the form of a bracket adapted to be rigidly-secured to a wall or other vertical support'and having the right angular extension 2 projecting fm'wardly from-the upper end said extension having a central longitudinal slot 3 therein.

In the use of this device. the outer vertical portion of the frame 5 forms a handle for sliding the said frame outwardly. When the frame 5 is drawn to the limit of its outward movement the inner end of the bar 8 is withdrawn just clear of the outer end of the tube 4: thus leaving a narrow slit opening 12 suificient ly Wide to allow the ready placing and removal of one of the patterns or other sheets held on the file. The patterns are thus placed in position so that the tube 4 extends through a suitable hole punched in said pattern and when the desired number of patterns are placed on the file the movable frame 5 is pushed inwardly, the bar 8 telescoping into the tube '4 and the shoulder portion 13 thereof abutting the end of said tube. The. patterns are thus supported upon the horizontal bar so as to hang free and perpendicular. to use a. patteruwhich is onthe file, the operator draws out the frame and slides the various patterns from the tube 4 on to the bar 8 until the desired pattern is reached. Many modifications of construction of this file may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention so long as the 'main feature of a slidable frame carrying a telescoping member adapted to telescope into a rigidly supported tube is adhered to.

lVhat we claim as our invention is 1. In a filing device, a bracket having a rigid angular extension, a filing member rigidly secured in said bracket and arranged in parallel relation to said bracket extension, and a member slidably secured to said bracket extension and carrying a member adapted to telescope with said rigid filing member and to be retained in alinement with said rigid member in the extended position.

2. In a filing device, a rigid bracket adapted to be secured in a vertical position -andhaving a horizontal extension from the top thereof and a horizontal tubular extension from the bottom a frame slidably supported on said bracket extension, and a horizontally arranged rodrigidly secured t o said slidable frame and adapted to telescope said tubular extension.

3. In a filing device, a rigid bracket member having a horizontal extension from the top formed with a longitudinal slot therein, a tubular member rigidly securedto said bracket member adjacent to the lower end and arranged parallel with said'horizontal extension, a frame having a horizontally arranged portion adapted to rest on,the"top of'the extension from said bracket and having a pair of rivets tending through said slot, and a rod rigidly secured in the vertically arranged' portion of said frame in horizontal alineinent with said tube and having a reduced end adapted to telescope said tube and a shoulder portion adapted to abut the end of said tube when the device is closed. 7
