It consists further in the provision of means for regulating the quantity of lubricant discharged into the chain at one time,
and further provides means for maintain-- ing the lubricating device always'i'n proper position for engagement with the chain.
, It consists further in a lubricating device which is adaptedto be actuated and set in operation by the movement of the chain itself, and this takes place regardless of the speed or pitch of the chain.
In the construction shown in the drawings and described herein,- which is a preferable embodiment of my idea, it consists primarily of a supporting member provided with radialarms having-ducts therethrough adapted to register with the duct in the chain pin and also with the duct communieating with the lubricant reservoir, and as the chain moves, these arms are wung by engagement therewith, so that as each arm is discharging the lubricant into the chain, it is being swung, and the succeeding arm'is being positioned for engagement with the succeeding chain The engagement of the chain pin wit the arm will cause the supporting member uponlwhich' the arms are mounted to be moved away from the chain, and this movement \is accommodated by providing a slideway therefor, and resilient means for returning the same to its proper position.
It consists in further parts and their combinations, all of which will be'specifically hereinafter described and set forthin the claims.

Whenthe supporting member D has been moved against the resistance of the spring J hereafter to be described, the resiliency of the spring will cause the same to be moved'forward' again and to assume its normal position. The purpose of this movement will hereafter be set forth.
The supportin member D has a reduced bearing portion thereon, upon which is mounted the collar 0. Itwill be understood that'my device is intended rimarily for use with a'hard'or rather so 1d lubricant. It is simple in its construction, has no parts which are readily put out of order, is easily manipulated, and

3. In combination with a moving chain having a chain pin formed with a longitudinal opening therein communicating with fthebearing of said pin, a lubricating device comprising-a supporting member mounted for: reciprocation, a lubricant reservoir car- ;ried thereon, a member mounted upon said supporting member and having a passage- ,way therethrough communicating'with said- }reservoir and with the interior of said chain jpin and-adapted to be engaged by said chain pin whereby said lubricating device is given a movement/away from said chain, aplunger member positioned to force the lubricant through said passageway into said chain pin during said movement of the lubricatin device, andmeans for returning the lubrlcat- .fing deviceto its normal position.

In combination with. a movin having a chain pin formed with a ongitudinal opening therein communicating with chain the bearing of said pin, a lubricating device comprising a supporting member mounted sfor' reciprocation, a reservoir carried thereon, amember mounted upon said supporting member and having a passageway therethrough communicating with said reservoir and with the interior ofsaid chain pin and adapted to be e aged by said chain pin, whereby the lubricating device is given a movement away-from said chain, an ad ustable plunger member ositioned to forcev the lubricant through sai passageway into said chain pin during said movement of the lub'ricating device, and means for returning the lubricating device to its normal position.
5. A chain lubricating device comprising a central supporting member having a passageway therethrough mounted for recipro cation and adapted to be moved in one direction by engagement with a moving chain, means for.mov1ng said central supporting member in the opposite direction, hollow arms mounted rad ally on said central supporting member, a lubricant reservoir mounted on said supporting member and having communication through said passageway with said 'hollow arms, and means for-forcing the lubricant into the chain during the reciprocating movement of said central supporting member.
6. A chain lubricating device comprising a central supporting1 member mounted for reciprocation andavin a passageway therethrough, and adapte to be moved in one direction by-engagement with the moving chain, means for moving said support- O cation, a lubricant reservoir thereon, means ing memberin, the opposite direction, hollow arms rotatably mounted upon said supporting member, a lubricant reservoir mounted on said supporting member, there being a continuous duct leading from said reservoir to said hollow arms, the engagement of said chain with said hollow arms effecting the movement of said su porting member, and means provided to orce the lubricant out through said duct during the movement of said supporting member on account of the engagement with the chain.
7. A chain lubricating-device comprising a supporting member mounted for reciprocation, a lubricant reservoir, radial arms rotatably mounted upon said supporting member and adapted to be engaged by the chain pin of a moving chain, whereby said arms are given a rotary and a radial movement, means forestablishin communication between said reservoir an said chain pin during the engagement of said" chain in and said arm, means for forcing-the ischarge of the lubricant into the chain pin during said engagement and for determining the quantity of lubricant thus dis charged.
8. A chain lubricating device comprising 4 a supporting member mounted for reciprocation, a lubricant reservoir thereon, radial arms rotatably mounted. upon said supporting member and adaptedto be engaged by the pin on a moving chain to compel both a rotary and a radial movement thereof,

A chain lubricating device comprising a central supporting member mounted for reciprocation, a lubricant reservoir thereon radial arms rotatably mounted u on said supporting member, a socketmem r rota tably mounted upon the outer end of each of said arms and adapted to be engaged by the head of a chain pin on a moving chain,
