Be it known that 1, Si icon SOHWARTZMAN, a citizen of the United States, residin at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and tate of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Wire Fabrics;
and I do hereby declare the following to the be a full, clear, and exact description of invention, such as will enable others skilled,
in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to eharactors of reference marked thereon, which I form a part of this specification This invention relates, generally, to improvements in fabrics made of Wire; and,.

The present invention has for its prim cipal object to provide a Wire-fabric of the general character hereinafter more fully set forth having certain spring-like features and resilient properties so that the fabric easily stretched in the direction of its len 511, as well as in the direction of its Wi t1.
The invention has for its further objectto provide a-Wire-fa'bric in the form of a bed-spring formed along its longitudinally extending marginal edges with a doubled arrangement of interconnected and longitudinally extending units, so as "to provide a double edge and to distribute greater strength along said marginal edges of the fabric where most needed.
Other objects of this invention are :-First, to provide a Wire-fabric which will not to any great extent squeeze in from the sides of the fabric, so as to sagin, the middle;'secondly, co-provide a springdike action to each individual unit, so that the "Wire-fabric will resume its normally flat the same; fourthly, to provide a Wire-fabric composed of a plurality of units which are connected in such manner so that the fabric is foldable in its width, as Well as along its length, upon the lines of connection between the interconnected units; -and fi'fthly, to provide a fabric in which the connected parts of the interconnected units provide strong supports for the mattress, the arrangement of the units being such, so that a close relation of such units is the result and a better support for the mattress is provided; and, finally, to provide Wire-fabric which is noiseless, there being no squeaky and loose connections which will rattle or jingle With the weight movaloly supported thereon, or when moving the Wire-fabric from place to place.
Other objects ofthis invention not at this time more particularly enumerated will be clearly understood from the following detailed description of the present invention.
With the various objects of this invention in View, the said invention consists, pri- 'ihfll'lly, in the novel wire-fabric hereinafter set forth, and, this invention consists, furthermore, in the novel arrangements and vcomloinations 01 the several devices and "carts, as well as in the detailsof the construction of the same, all o'i' which will be more fully. set forth in theaccompanying speclficatlon, and then finally embodied in the clauses of the claims which are appended to and which form an essential part of this specification.
The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a plan view of a portion of a wire-fabric, showing one embodiment of the, principles of the present invention; and ig. 2 is a sectional representation of the same, saidisection being takenonline 2- 2* of said Fig, 1. I am aware that some changes may be made in the general arrangements and combinations of the several devices and parts, as well as in the details of the construction of the same, without departing from the scope of my present invention as set forth in the foregoing specification, and as delined in the claims which are appended thereto. Hence, I do not limit my present invention to the exact arrangements and combinations of the several devices and parts, described in the said specification, nor do I confine myself to the exact details of the construction of the said arts, as illustrated in the accompanying rawings.

A wire-fabric for bed-springs and the like, comprising a. multiplicity of wire units arranged in rows, each unit consisting of side-members and a laterally extending end member, said side-members being formed with inwardly extendin angular portions arranged and constructe to pro vide springlike action or resiliency of said side-members and lateralstretch-of the fabric, and the end-member of each unit being formed with an'angul'ar portion arranged and constructed to provide spring-like action or resiliency of said end-member and longitudinal stretc of the fabric, means connected with said units for connecting theisame, and narrow reinforcing units also of wire extending along the longitudinal marginal edges of'the win each reinforcing unit comprising a pair of side-1nembers, a short end-member and 100 shaped portions at the junctions of said si 0- members and said end-member, said sidemembers being formed with angular portions arranged and constructed to provide springlike action or resiliency of said side-members, the side-members of the units in each longitudinally extending end-row of Bid fabric being connected with said reinforcing units, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
