waa-o. The 4Schedule reerredmo inthese Letters Patent and making part of the same Toall whom it maycoqwern: Be it known that-1I, SAMUEL J. Bns'ron, of Hartford, in thecounty-of Hartford and State ot Connecticut, have invented a new and improved Device for Punching Cigars; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
This invention has for its. object the production of a simple instrument for puncturing the small ends of cigars, for the purpose of providing -thc necessary means of draught, and consists of arcylindricai case or cup, having a central opening, and provided with spring puncturing pins,` which are operated by means of studs projecting through its edge.
The details of construction will be fully described hereinafter'.

To enable others skilled 'in the art to make and use my invention, l will now proceed to describe fully its construction and manner of operation;

VThe operation is as follows:
The small end of' the cigar is thrust into the oponing of the cup upon either side, and the studs o2 o are.
pressed on by the fingers. The movement of the stud causes the pins o ol to be thrust into the cigar,I and the necessary openings are thus made.
- As soon as the pressure applied to the studs is removed, the pins are instantly withdrawn bythe action .of the spring e.
