To all 'ur/z am, it may concern Be it known that l, Janus a citizen of the Dominion oi Ganacla,-residing at 150 Dundurn street, in the city of Hamilton, in the county of Nentworth, in the Province of Ontario, Dominion of Canada, have invented a certain new and useful Safety-Guard for Stamping and other Presses, 0t which the following is a specification. 7
This invention relates to safety guards for stamping and other presses for preventing injury to the hands of the operator, and it has more particular reference to that type of device described in the specification or" ,my former U. S. Patent No. 1020827, dated March 19th, 1912.
Safety guards of the type referred to comprise a guard carrying member, a manually operable member connected to the guard carrying member and a latch releasing member, said' guard carrying member being independently to the latch releasing member, until the guard is moved substantially to its protective position, additional movement of the guard carrying member serving to actuate the latch releasing member.
The main object of my present invention is to provide a simple and ei'li'ective means whereby the guard is positively prevented from lifting away from its protective position should the latch not be returned to-its locked position.
Another object of the MELVIN Jones,

The lower end of the connecting rod 14, is coupled to the foot lever or treadlenotshown-in a similar manner to that described in my former U. S. Patent No. 977953, dated December 6th, A.
