known type adapted to be mounted upon a telegraph poleor other support, the said insulator being formed with an annular wire receiving groove 6, in which is adapted to rest or engage an electric current wire 7 as usual, the wire being clamped to the insulator in the groove therein by-means of a device, presently described.
The wire clamping device comprises a retaining loop 8 formed from-a single wire, bent at opposite ends to provide eyes 9 and 10, respectively, the ends of the wire forming the loop 8 being twisted about the said wire, so as toprevent the opening of the eyes when strain is applied thereto, and engaged with the eye 9 is a hand lever 11, one end being formed with an eye 12 loosely engaging the eye 9, while the opposite end is doubled on itself to form a handle 13, the lever intermediate its ends being bent to form a nose or book 14; for engagement in the eye 10, so that upon swinging the lever 11 in one direction, the loop 8 will be drawn taut about the insulator 5, the said loop 8 bein engaged in the groove 6 therein, and is a 'apted to straddle the electric current wire 7 whereby on the tightening of the loop, the said wire 7 will be fastened't-o the insulator securely to prevent the loosening thereof or the sagging of the same.
It will be obvious that on moving the lever 11 in the reverse direction from that heretofore stated, the loop 8 may be slaclc ened or loosened about the insulator 5, thus permitting the adjustment of the electric wire 7, or the detachment thereof from the insulator. 7
It is,-of course, understood, that the loop 8 of the wireclamp may be made of any size, so as to accommodate varying sizcd insulators or supports for the electric current wires.
