INVENTOR WITNESSES m: ATTORNEY THOMAS HARDING, OF SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA.
VIOLIN -BRIDGE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 15, 1912.
Application filed October 21, 1910. Serial No. 588,377.
. To all whom it may concern:
Be it known-that l, THOMAS I'IARDING, a citizen of the United States, residing at San Jose, in the county of Santa Clara and State of California have invented a new and useful Improvement in Violin-Bridges, of which the following is a specification in such full and clear terms as will enable those skilled in the art to construct and use the same. J
My invention relates to a violin tubular bridge, used for the purpose of supporting the strings of a violin and other stringed musical instruments; said bridge having a tube by which the tone of the violin can be changed.
It consists in certain details of construction which will be more fullycxplained by reference to the accompanying drawings, in which the same letter of reference isap plied to the same part throughout.
Figure '1 is a side View of the violin bridge. Fig.2 is a perspective View of the same. Fig.3 is an end view. Fig. is an end View. Fig. 5 is an end view.
In the present case I have shown my device sflnsisting of a violin bridge made of Wood or any other suitable material, having a round tube as shown at A, Fig. 1, which may be made any size required and any thickness desired to change the tone of violin or any other stringed instrument upon which the same may be used.
Square tube violin bridge shown at A, Fig. 2, round tube shown at A, Fig. 3, oval tube shown at A, Fig. 4 and oblong tube shown at A, Fig. 5 can be made of wood or any other suitable material and any size required and any thickness desired to change-H; 4 6;
the tone of violin or any other musical instrument that the same is used on. I
I d not confine myself to any particular shape or size of tube to be used in said violin bridge to change the tone of any stringed musical instrument to 'which the same is used upon.
Having thus described my invention what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Pat-- ent of the United States is as follows:
A violin bridge provided with. a tubular aperture extending longitudinally the entire length of said bridge, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have set my hand this 15t-hfday of October A. D. 1910, in the presence'of two subscribed witnessesl THOMAS HARDING:
itnesses -J. B. CAMBERS, M. W. SHARP.
Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the Commissioner of Patents, Washington, D. C.
