To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN H. Dennie, a citizen of the United States, residing` at Register, in the county of Bulloch, State of Georgia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in lultivators; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to plows, cultivators, and like implements, and has for its principal object to provide a plow with a standard which can be readily adjusted either laterally or vertically or both.
Another object of the invention is to -provide an attachment for plow beams consisting of laterally swinging element and a standard adjustably connected for vertical movements to said element.
A still further object of the invention is to provide an attachment for the purpose described, which is composed of a minimum number of parts, is therefore simple in con'- struction, and is cheap to manufacture.
Vith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction and novel combination of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in t-he claim hereto appended; it being understood that various changes in the form, proportion, size and minor details of construction within the scope of the claim, may be resorted to wit iout departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the invention.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a side elevation of a cultivator constructed in accordance with my invention and showing the parts in their normal positions, Fig, 2 is a top plan view of the same, Fig. 3 is a similar View but showing the parts in an adjusted relation, Fig. 4 is a detail cross sectional View taken on the line 6-6 of Fig. 1, Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the pivot block.

Referring to the drawings, the invention comprises a beam 5 having an inclined rear end 6, and formed in the beam near the rear end is a vertical opening 7. Also formed in the beam at the front end thereof is a plurality of vertical openings 8-8. Disposed below the beam is a pivot block 9, which is formed with a pair of openings 10 adapted to register with openings 8 for receiving fastening bolts 11, said bolts having nuts 12 associated therewith. Formed in the rear end of the pivot block 9 is another vertical opening 13 having a countersink 'l-ft.4
My invention further comprises a laterally swinging arcuate element 15, one end thereof extending forwardly to form a standard 1G having an opening 17 formed therein and adapted to register with thel opening 13 of the block 9. Disposed within said openings 13 and 17 is a pivot bolt 1S having a nut 19 associated therewith for securing the parts together. The other end of the element 15 is formed with a laterally extending head 20, said head projecting on opposite sides of the element and disposed at right angles thereto. Formed in the head is an arcuate slot 21, which is struck from the pivot opening 17 of the standard iti. The slot 21 registers with the opening 7 of the beam, and disposed within said opening and projecting through the slot is a bolt 22 having a nut 23 associated therewith. It will thus be observed that the element 15 can be swung upon its pivot bolt 18 to either side of the beam 5 and retained 'in any adjust-ed position by means of the bolt 22 and the nut 23.
Centrally formed in the element 15 is a pair ot spaced openings 24 and 25 respectively. An arcuate standard 2G, which is formed of metal, is slotted, as indicated by the reference numeral 27, to form spaced arms 28-28- Formed in each Iarm near the free end thereof is an opening 29, and these openings register with the opening 21 of the element 15. Disposed within said alined openings is a bolt 30 which forms a pivot for permitting the standard 26 to swing vertically. Also formed in each arm 28 is a plurality of openings 31 and each pair of these openings is adapted to successively register with the opening 25 of the element 15. Associated with any of the alined openings is a bolt 32, which is adapted to hold the standard rigidly to the element 15. Formed in the lower end of the standard 2G is an opening 33 in which is locatedy a bolt 3ft to which may be readily attached a cultivator shovel not shown or other like earthengaging tool.
Centrally extending rearwardly from the head 20 is a rearwardly inclined L-shaped bracket 36 having a pluralityT of transverse openings 87 formed in the long arm thereofl'. The long arm is adapted to be normally disposed directly in rear of and in spaced relation to the rear end 6 oi' the beam. Disposed within the openings 37v are bolts 3S by means of which handles 39-39 are secured to said head 20 to turn therewith.
-From the fore-going, it will be observed that as before stated, the element vl5 can be swung laterally to either side ofthe beam 5 and held in an adjusted position, and also should it be desired to adjust the inclination of the standard 26 such adjustment can be readily made by changing the bolt 32,' as will be readily understood. It will also be noted that when the element is swung to either side of the bea-m, the handles are also shifted, thereby drawing the earth-engaging tool against the earth.
