The shaft 3 extends through the extension 9 on the guard and through' the casing 4 hereinbefore described and beyond the outer-end of 'thex casing the shaft' is pointed as at 11 and Journaled in a corre spondingly formed socket 12 in the handle ,13. The casing 4 is slotted on its opposite sides as `at 16, the said -slots opening onto the end of the casing at a 'point adacentJ to the handle 13. A sleeve 17 isfslidable longitudinally on the casing. This. sleeve isvcon neced therewith by means of diametrically opposed lugs l9,`and a shaft actuated nut 18. The said nut 18 of the'sleeve is pro, vided with a rectangular passage 2O therein which receives the screw or Worm like portion 5 of tl 1e shaft 3. .Now itis evident, from the construction 4described. ,that the sleeve 17 may he manually reciprocated `upon the casing 4 wherebyto' impart rotar movements in two'directions to the sha t `3. The bristles 2 may be brought into eng'agement4 with the teeth .whereby to permit of their being rapidlyand thoroughly cleaned. All of the parts ofthe brush are detachable so as to permit them to be disconnected from each other where they may be subjected -to va cleaning medium and maintained in a perfect sanitarytcondition.
