The present invention relates to nose` guards for eye-glasses and` spectacles and more particularly to the means for securing the pads to the guards, and is a division of my prior application., Serial No. 464,663, filed November 27. 1908.

To these and other ends the invention consists in. certain improvements and combina.- tions of parts all as will be hereinafter more fully described, the novel features being pointed out in the claims at the end of the specification.

The invention in the present instance is embodied in what is termed a finger piece guard for eyeglasses in which the lever l is pivotally mounted'oii the .support for the lenses (not shown and carries the nose en gading portion at its rear end. v
rllhe nose engaging' portions comprise in this instance au upper and a lower pad, the latter preferably beinein the form of a downwardly extending loop einbodving an arm secured at il at its upper end to the lever l. and having a forward bend :l at its lower end connecting it. to an upwardly extending arm 5 that is'passed over the inner tace oi arm i). and has an extension or continuation forming a` supporting arm for 'the upper pad. '.lo secure the upper pad to this supportingr portion or arm, one of said parts, preferably the supporting portion or arm G. is formed with an eye or opening 7 while the pad carries two or more arms passed through the eye at 8 and turned outwardly at 9 to retain the pad to the supporting arm. lt is preferred to make the pad of sheet material and .in order to secure an effective gripping surface, it is made in the :form of a substantially concavo-'convex disk 10 radially corrugated at 1l, if desired, and having its-convex face userving as the nose engaging surface. The securing arms may also be made of sheet material and in one piece with the disk and to this end they are bent at l2 from opposite edges of the disk toward each other across the concave tace to connect. with the portions' 8 that eX- tend through the eye or perforation. The eye is preferably circular so that the arms may turn therein and it is sufliciently large of the nose; and further its shape is such that it does not injure the nose. The arms being formed in the manner described are not liable to work loose and accidentally: release the pad and yetl they permit the' rea-dy removal of the pad tor the purpose 'of repair.
I claim as my invention: l

A nose guard for eyeglasses comprising a supporting portion and ai relatively movable pad, one. ot' which is provided with an eye and the other of which has arms passed through and rotatable freely in the eye7 with their ends deticcted outwardly and spaced from the latter to loosely retain the pad on the support.
