To all whom it may concern:
B it known that I, THOMAS H. KANE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident -ofYoungstowml in the county of yMahoning and State of'Ohio, have invented a new and useful Process for Forming Ribbed Lath, of which ythe following is a specification.
This invention relates to ribbed expanded metal or ribbed-lath,` and it comprises a simple, effective and economical method of producing such material. The machines which may be employed to carry out this process are such as are shown in my previous Patents Numbers 949,483, dated February 15, 1910, and 968,361, dated August 23, 1910, but any other means may be employed to carry this process int/o effect.

The machine has a stationary jaw 1 with a l ;roove tol receive one outer rib 'of the ribbed and slottedmaterial, which'rib lits overl a stationary flange `or plate 2. The Y plate or table 3 is carried by the head 4 and serves tosupport the sheet ymet-al. A movable head 5 carries a lange or plate 6 and jaw 7 to engage the outer rib of the sheet metal, and the supporting plate or table 9. Stationary bars ll'carry the slidable blocks 12, to which blocks are secured means to prevent the intermediate ribs of the sheet'metal from opening. Havingr now explained my process, what I claim as Thy-invention and desie to sceure by Letters Patent is The process of formilner ribbed expanded metal which consists in laterally separating the ribs of previously ribbed and ,slitted sheet metal while at the same time preventinf.;r the expansion of the ribs adjacent the slitted portion.
