Be it lmown that I, MILTON F. WiLLIAMs, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Louis, Missouri, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in ReducingJ Machine Casings, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description; suchas will enable others skilled in the art. to which use the same, reference being had tothe accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in whioh l Figure 1 is an elevational View showing the removable cover "in normal position. Fig. 2 is a detailed sectional elevation of a portion oI'l the cover removed.
This invention relates to Crushers and Shredders, and more particularly to a casingv for a Crusher or shredder wherein a portion of the easing is constructed in such.1nanner to be readily and easily removed to enable easy and quick access to the interior of the machine.
The principal object ofy this invention is to construct a casing for a pulverizer or shredder, which casing may he securely and i'ixedly held in normal position, and at the` same time so arranged as to be easilyy and quicklyI removed.
A further object of this invention is to construct` the removable section to apulverizer -orhredder casing which section is adapted'to carry conduit pipes and other parts in 1which `there is a slight liability of clogging, thus permitting such parts to be easily and quickly cleared.
A still further object of this invention is toprovide a removable casing for a-crusher or shredder which removable casing is provided witli a trough, or like member, adapted to receive and collect incompressible or metallicl nuts, small stones, etc., that are undesirable in iinisbed crushed or shredded product; for example, Where the pulverizer or shredder is being used to shred rags or st-raw for the purpose of making paper it becomes necessary that all iron nails, metallic nuts or articles of like character be removed.
A still further object` of this invention is to provide a cover in which a receptacle is arranged for receiving extraneous substances, Vsuch receptacle being so arranged asto be accessible from the exterior of the casing without endangering the hands or Specification of Letters Patent. Referring more particularly, to Fig. 1, a base frame 1 forms a support for a main frame 2. Shaft 11 passes through brackets 14 which are Carv ried by a swinging journal frame 1,5 that .is pivot-ally mounted upon the main frame 2 by means of trunnion bolts 16 or`any-oth'er desirable pivotal member. .The swinging journal frame 15 carries the `journals 8 of the cylindrical member and therefore the relative position of the swinging frame 15 .determines the relative position of the 'cy.

The horizontal shaft 17 at its hand wheel 21 and also carries a sprocket Wheel 22 which cooperates with' the chain 24 which leads to a similar sprocket and adjusting mechanism (not shown) at the other end of thejcylindrical roller, thus assuring alinement of the breaker roll 5 for all posi 100 tions of adjustment. The rotating shredder member 25 is mounted upon a shaft which is journaled in the main frame 2 and which carries a ly wheel E27'.l Series of shredder bars, or the grinding cage 28, is located in 105 main frame 2 beneath the rotatable shred- -dcr member 25 in such manner as tocoperate with the rotating shredder 25.

Having thus described my invention all' that I claim is:
1. In a devicel of lthe class described in combination a rotary pulverizer member, a casingl for said pulverizer member, said casing being formed with a chamber in the upper part thereof,` conduit pipes leading fromsaid chamber; to the eye portion of said rotary pulverizer, and a receptacle in said chamber for extraneous matter.
2. In a device of the class described in combination, a rotary 'pulverizer member, a
casing for said pulverizer said casing being provided with a chamber having an'opemng exfldng into the interior of said casing, a trough memberarranged in vsaid chamber above said opening, conduit ,pipesleadin from said chamber in the 'proximity of sai trough to the eye portion of said ulverizer.
In a device of the class ascribed in,- combinati'on a. rotaryepulverizer member, a casing for said mem r, lsaid casing haviig"` a removable portion. formed with a chamber in the upper part thereof, conduit pipes leading from said chamber to the axial portion of said removable portion;- and a receptacle for extraneous matter in said chamber.
