DETA'HALE RUBBER HEEI..
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 24, 1912.
Application 'filed October 3, 1911. Serial No. 652,515.
T o [LZZ 'uv/Lom it may concem':
Be it k'noWn' that I, AMANDA MCDONALD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Central City, in the County of Lawrence and State of South Dakota, have invented new and useful' -Improvements in Detachable Rubber Heelsyof which the following is a specification.
This invent-ion relates to heels and Inore particularly to detachable cushion heels.
The Object of the invention is the pro vision of a simple and eflicient device of this character which may be readily attached to or detached from the heel so that it can be readily Worn in the house or in a store and readily detachecl When the person goes out On the Street.
Further objects of the invention will appear as the following specific description is read in connection with the accompanying draWing, which forms a part of this application, and in which Figure 1 is a side elevati0n.- Fig. 2" is a Vertical sectional view through the shoe With the device applied. Fig. 3 is a top plan view With the device removedfrom the shoe. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of one of the studs removedfrom the device.
Reterring more particularly to ing, 1 represents a shoe having a heel 2 which is of Ordinary constrnetimi. Threaded into a hole in the front and back tl icreof are pins or screWs 3 having springheadfi L which are adapted to .be engaged by the Socket members 5. These socket members are carried by the fiexible fl'ange 6 of the heel member 7 and are adapted to Snap into engagethe drawment With the spring heads in a manner Well-known in the art of glove' and Shoe fastenings. The heel base 7 and its flange are eonstructed as a unit, being preferably molded in a Single operation and having the roughened in any socket members substantially attached to the front and back of the Vertical langc. The heel base is of course considerably thicker than the fiange Which is sut'ficiently resilient to pernit the socket members to be readily detached 'from the spring hcacled studs, pins Or screws 3. The bottom of the heel is suitable manner, as by providing a plurality of projections which may be in the form of corrugations or in any other suitable form. The flange G is preferably reinforccd at the points ot' attachment of the socket members by eausiug a thickening of the material, as shown at thereby preventing the socket'members 'ti-om tearing out and at the same time permitting the remainder of the 't'lange resilieut to allow the socket members to disconnected, as before statcd.
While it is customary to remove only the cushiou heel, the spring hcaded Studs'may be also removed i izt desired Without much trouble.
Having' thus describcd the invention, what Claim as new is A I-ubber heel adapted to be connected to a Shoe heel and formed With a tlange to Mnbrace the shoe heel, and a base portion to underlie said Shoe heel, 'lastcners adapted to extend into the shoe heel and provided with spherit'al heads, said heel tlange being provided with openings to receive said heads. and :female fasteners ings and adapted to Snap on said heads and hold said rubber heel in position on the shoe heel;
In testimony whereot I allix I\] Signature in presence of two witnesses.
