The main objects of this invention are to provide an improved vending machine; to provide a vending machine particularly. adaited to dispense liquids; to rovide a vending machine adapted to be a usted to vary the quantity of iquid to be ispensed at each operation; to provide a de vice having improved mechanism for receivin the operating check or slug; to provide a evice having improved mechanism .for automatically stoppin the flow of h uid when the desired uan ity has been is ensed; and to provi e a strong and durab e construction which will not easily get out of repair. t

Said sleeve is provided above said vedge with an aperture into which o c ns one end of a check or coin chute 7, the o her ond of which extends upwardly to tho top of the casing. On the top of the easing above the chute 7 is the check or coin rcceiver 8 which has a slot 9 therein. Near one end of the slot is a projection or lip 10 which extends into the slot, and at the end of the slot is a raised apertured lug 11. The check or slug 12 is provided in its edge with a notch 13, and concentric with the notch is a slot or roove 14. In inserting the check the notci 18 is placed on the lugr 11 and the groove 14 receives the lip 10, and by giving the check a artial rotation it will enter the chute and all down onto the ledge 6 of the guide sleeve 5, as shown more clearly in Fi s. 2 and 10.
The o erating lever 15 is pivoted at 16 to the p ate 2, and the ower end thereof projects through a slot 1 in the front of the casin in osition to be grasped by the opera or. he other end o the lever 15 is pivoted to a plunger 18 which projects into the adjacent end of the sleeve 5 in position to engage the check 12 and move it longitudinally of the sleeve. A coiled spring 19 is connected at one end to the power arm of the lever, and at its other end to the plate 2 and normally acts to hold the power end of the lever ra sed and the lun r retracted.

A vendin machine, comprising a valve, a pivote bar connected therewith and adapted to operate the samea lockin lever, a trip lever pivotcd u on the bar an adapted to connect the loc 'ng lever with the bar a bell-crank lever connected with the lcclring lever, clockwork mechanism adapted to operate the bell-crank lever and thereby cause thebar to open the valve, means operated by the clockwork mechanism adapted predeterminedly to disconnect the trip lever from the locking lever and means adapted to throw the bell-crank lever to opcratxve position.

A vending machine, comprisin a valve, a bell-crank lever, a plunger, a s eeve adapted to hold the plunger und cylinder in alinement, means adapted to cause the plunger to move the bellcrank lever to op erative osition, means operatively connecting the ell-crank lever with the valve, and weight-operated mechanism adapted to operate the bell-crank lever.

A vending machine, comprising a bellcrank lever, a cylinder pivotcd thereu on, an o erating lever, means to move the ellcran lever to operative position, a pawl adapted to hold t e bell-crank lcverin auch pos tion, means on theo erating lever adapted to -hold the bell-eran lever m such position, means on the operating lever adapted to release the pawl when the operating lever returns to position, a valve, operatmg mechanism for the valve controlled by the bell-crank lever, and means for operating the bell-crank lever.
6. A vending machine comprising a valve,
'a pivoted bar adapted to operate the same, a
pivotcd lever, means connecting said lever and said bar a movable member ada ted to release said locking means when sai movable member has traveled a predetermined distance, a pendulum adapted to regulate the rate of travel of said movable member, and means adapted to operate said pivotcd lever.
