Registering Apparatus, ot' which the following is a speciiication.
This invention relates to a cash issuing, indicating and registering apparatus in Which-the coins are piled separately, ac-
,mechanism or the like common to all of them; the slides for the time being in operative position perform a number of to and fro movements corresponding with the number of coins of any particular value to be paid out and then return automatically to the inoperative position; While tl ie y are moving in the o erative position, the slides set by means o gearing an indicator for making visible the amounts paid out and the type Wheels of a printing mechanism, which imprints the amounts paid out and if required any other dates or indications -upon a checking strip. `The purpose of the'present invention is to simplify essentially the Whole mechanism,
Iand more especially the deviceseoperating the indicating and printingdevices and to insure correct operation thereof, so that the y amount paid out always agrees with the sum indicated and printed. For this purpose each of the coin receptacles has apportioned to it a'nindicating drum anda type Wheel operated by the corresponding ejecting slide, so that the devices for adding the amounts of ejected coins of different kinds are dispensed with and all the ratchet gears can e released by a device common to them all,
for the purpose of returning the indicating and'printing mechanism to the zero position. The ratchet gears are also combined with locking devices which are moved when the slides have nearly completed their ejecting stroke, so as to lock the ratchet gears. Thus at each stroke of the slides the ratchet Wheels are lalways moved forward only by an equal angular distance say by one division or by one tooth so as to prevent the indicating drums and type wheels from over-running the correct position .tor indicating and printing 'the right number which over-running might votherwise occur in consequence olf the inertia of the rotating parts. There is also provided a movable stop which, before the key releasing arm that can rotate only in one direction has moved through a complete circle is automatically released and thereby brought into thepath of [he releasing arm and thus locks the latter in its initial position. The stop is perferably removed from the path of the arm by operation of the device which releases the ratchet gear'sf so that the arm can then be turned again for another paying out operation.

The coins to be dealt with are piled separately, according to value, in receptacles a, and are ejected therefrom by the correspomling slides Z) which are normally held in the lowermost inoperative position (Fig. l). The indicating and printing mechanism must be returned to'zero position when each payment is completed. For this purpose there is Iprovided in the `present case, a slide 67 having a handle 66 and connected with a transverse bar 68 carrying Wedge shapedv projections 69. The shafts 60' have pins 70 which strike against tixed stops 7l when the drums and type Wheels have arrived at their zero positions.
In order to prevent over-running of the indicating drums and type wheels, beyond one number or type respectively, when actuated by the paWls 7c of the raised ejecting slides Z), a check wheel 72 having teeth .which are reversed relatively to those of wheel s, is fixed to each of the latter. The pawls 74 of these check wheels are pivoted to the tiXed cross bar 62 and are heldnormally out of contact with wheels 72 by springs 7 5. Each ejecting slide carries a pin 76 which when rthe slide is in the raised position, strikes the corresponding pawl 74 toward the' end of the ejecting movement and causes the pawl to engage its check wheel 72' against the action of spring 75, so that the shaft 60 and the parts connected therewith are locked in the proper position (Fig. 4). Before the releasing arm again arrives at its starting point, the cam 65 strikes one arm of the angle lever 79 so that the other arm, is withdrawn from.the notch 77 (Fig. 6) in the stop 77, thusreleasing thelatter and allowing it to be raised bythe spring 78 into the path of the releasing arm 24 which is thus locked in the correct starting place. The stop 77 must be removed from the path of the releasing arm before the next payment operation. The slide' 67 that releases the detente 63 may advantageously be em ployed for this purpose. It is provided with an inclined surface SO which, as the slide moves inward, acts on a lever S2 pivoted at 8l and linked to the stop 77. This lever depresses the stop 77 against the action of its spring 78 until the lever 79 again engages in the notch 77 and thus locks the stop in the depressed position. A
The hereinbefore described mechanism operates in the following manner: After all the keys t corresponding with sums to be ejected have been depressed and the corresponding ejecting slides brought into the raised anda operative positions, the arm 24 is moved over the keys and. releases them by means of the projections z' so that each slide returns to the inoperative position as soon as it has ejected the number of coins of the same kind corresponding with the number on thel key. After the releasing arm 24 has passed over the whole key-board, the stamp 53 of the printing mechanism, the type Wheels of which `were set by the ejecting stroke of the slides, is operated and then the paper strip 49 is advanced. Finally the stop 7 is released and the releasing arm 24 is locked in the starting position. At the neXt operation of the slide 67 `for the purpose of re-setting the indicating and Vprinting mechanism to zero, th/e stop 77 is again re-set sothat the whole apparatus is ready for a vfresh operation.
