Be it known that I, FRANK A. HALL, a
citizen of the United States, residing at.
Okemos, in the county of Ingham and State. of lvlichigam'have invented'certain new and useful. Improvements in Lamps, of which the following is a specification.
It is the object of the present invention to provide an improved lamp designed for use in connection with stereopticons and moving picture machines, the primary aim of the invention being to provide a lamp which may be readily carried from place to place and will, with the consumption of liquid fuel such as gasolene, give sufficient light to properly project the views upon the screen.
p The invention resides in providing, in the structure of such a lamp, :1. fuel supply pipe feeding a burner located at its for- Ward end, and a branch pipe leading from the first mentioned pipe and feeding a burner located also at its forward end, the last mentioned. burn-er being positioned behind and slightly to one side of the first mentioned burner so that a reflector positioned behind the two burners will collect and reflect the light rays as if from but a single burner capable of producing a light of high candle power.
For a full understanding of the invention reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which I Figure 1 is a perspective View of the lamp. Fig. 2 is a top plan View thereof.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and indi cated in all the views of the accompanying drawing by/the same reference characters.
A. convenient arrangement of the parts of a lamp'such as previously referred to is shown in the drawing in which the base of the lamp is indicated by the numeral 1 and the. supporting standard by the numeral 2. The lamp font 3 is supported at the upper end of a fuel supply pipe 4 and is designed to contain the gaso one or other-liquid fuel consumed by the lamp. This fuel supply pipe is mounted for vertical adjustment upon the standard 2 in the well-known manner, as illustrated in the drawing, and projects forwardly beyond the standard as in dicat-ed by the numeral 5 and supplies fuel to a burner 6 of any desired type, located at its forward end. A union 7 is interposed in the pipe 5 immediately in advance of the standard 2 and leading from this union is a branch fuel supply pipe 8 which extends laterally and forwardly beside the pipe and spaced therefrom A burner 9 similar-to the burner 6 is locatedat the forward end of the pipe 8 and is supplied with fuel by the said pipe. The pipe 8 is of such length'that the burner 9 will be located immediately behind and slightly to one side of the burner 6.
A sleeve 10 is adjustably held upon the supp-1y pipe 5, between the burner 6 and union 7, by means of a set-screw 11, and projecting upwardly from this sleeve is a standard 12 carrying a reflector 13.
Due to the fact that the burner 9 is 10- to one side of the burner 6,]the full lighting effect of the two burners is transmitted, through the medium of the reflector 13 to the screen upon which the pictures are to be projected.
Having thus described the invention what is claimed as-new is 1. Ina lamp, a burner, a second burner positioned behind and laterally displaced with respect to the first mentioned burner, and a reflector arranged behind the burners :cated immediately behind and but slightly and angularly adjustable about a vertical axi's with respect thereto. j
2. In a lamp, a burner, a second burner arranged rearwardly of the first mentioned burner and laterally displaced with respect thereto, and a reflector arranged behind the burners and adjustable toward and from the same and angularly about a vertical axis with relatinn thereto, the second mentioned burner being positioned nearer the reflector than the-first mentioned burner.
3. In a lamp, an angularly adjustable reflector, a burner positioned relatively close to the reflector and in advance of one side thereof, and a burner forwardly and laterally displaced with rcspect to the first men tioned burner and located more nearly opposite the middle of the reflector first mentioned burner.
4.
