I realize that various moditi -ations may he made within the spirit and scope of the invention, and I therefore do not limit myself to the exact construction shown and described.
I claim as my invention:
1. A brake head comprising a hub having an inclined slot therein extending around a portion of its Wall, said slot forming a spring clamping portion which is wider at its base or attached end than at its opposite end.
2. A brake head comprising a hub having two inclined converging slots therein, said slots forming between them a central spring clamping portion, said slots also forming a spring clamping portion at each side of said central clamping portion, said hub having longitudinal slots cutting one end of each clamping portion from the body of the hub.
3. A brake head comprising a hub provided with two spring clamping portions, one of said clamping portions having its base or attached end at one side of the hub, and the other clamping portion having its base or attached end at the opposite side of the hub.
4. A brake head comprising a hub having a central spring clam ing portion and an oppositely extending cliamping portion comprising two parts lying at opposite sides of the central portion.
5. A brake head comprising a hub having a slot extending around a portion of its wall, said slot forming two spring clamping portions.
6. A brake head comprising a hub haw ing a transverse slot, said slot forming two spring clamping portions, said hub having longitudinal slots cutting opposite ends of said portions from the body of the hub.
7. A brake head comprising a hub having a transverse slot in its wall to form two hub portions, one of said portions being connected to the body of the hub at one end of said slot, and the other portion being connected to the body of the hub at the other end of said slot.
8. A brake head comprising a hub having two transverse slots in its wall, said slots forming a central hub portion, and a hub portion comprising two parts lying at opposite sides of the central hub portion,
I body at the said central portion being connected to the hub body at one end of said slots, and said other portion being connected to the hub opposite end of said slots.
9. A brake head comprising a hub having a slot running transversely through its wall to form two portions of the hub, a hangerattaching eye, webs connecting said eye with one portion of said hub, said webs forming between them a slot connecting the interior of the hub with the interior of the eye, the other portion of the hub having a longitudinal slot therein at the opposite side of the hub from said hanger-attaching eye, a web on said other portion at one side of said slot, and a web on the hub body at the other side of said slot.
10. A brake head comprising a hub having oppositely extending spring clamping portions, an angular web at the free end of each of said portions, webs on the body of the hub lying alongside the first men tioned webs, and means for drawing the pairs of webs together.
11. A brake head comprising av hub slotted to form oppositely extending spring clamping portions connected at one end to the hub body, a hanger-attaching eye integral with the hub body and with the one end of one of said portions, and means for drawing the end of the other portion toward the adjacent part of the hub body.
12. A brake head comprising a hub rircumferentially slotted to form a entral spri g clamping portion, and a spring clamping portion comprising two parts lying at opposite sides of said central portion, each of said latter parts being connected at one end to the hub body; a web at one end of one of said portions, a web on the hub body lying alongside the first web, a hanger-attaching eye integral with said webs, a Web connecting the ends of the parts of the other one of said portions, a web on the hub body lying alongside the last m ntioned web, and means for clamping the two last mentioned webs together.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
