The objects of the invention are to provide a simple and etiit-ient form of earth anchor to be used for retaining telegraph and trolley wire supporti ng posts in position and espeoially such posts as sustainthe greatest: strain such as those .used'to support the wires upon curves or angles. The devires are also adaptable for many other uses for whieh earth anchors are or may he em ployed.

This devire is simple and asy of appliration and incapable of getting out of order. The artion of theblades alone when expanding will be suthrient to penetrate the soil it soft but when hard the soil at the hottom of the hole (an be exr-avated to permit the blades to expand and the opening ran then he filled with thoroughly tamped soil. The wings are set at an angle to said blades so that when the blades are closed the wings diverge and when the blades open the wings cometogether and are retained by the pull upon the draw bar. .r.
