FIXTURE-PLATE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented An". 13, 1312.
Application filed April 15, 1911. Serial No. 621,324.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, \ViLLIAM O. FOWLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at \Venatchee, in the county of Chelan and State of lVashington, have invented new and useful Improvements in Fixture-Plates, of which the followine is a, specification.
This invention rela es to a. fixture plate for electric fixtures and brackets, and the object of the invention is to provide a plate adapted to be positioned to surround the electric wires are passed, the said plate having means whereby the usual crow-foot carrying the wire conducting pipe may be readily secured to the said plate and adjusted so as to direct the wire conducting pipe at the desired angle to the plate and to the wall to which the plate is secured.
dVith these objects in view, and others which will appear as the nature of the description progresses, the invention resides in the novel construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, there has. been illustrated a simple and preferred embodiment. of the improvement, and in which drawings- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the fixturc plate.
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the plate with the croi v-toot secured therein. Fig. 3 is a sectional view upon the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
Like numerals of reference denote c0rrespending parts throughout the several views.
In the drawings, the numeral 1 designates the fixture plate. As illustrated in the drawings, the plate preferably comprises a rounded member having a centrally arranged preferably circular opening 2. The plate is provided with a plurality of counter 3, the same being adapted for the reception of the usual securing screws, whereby the plate may be connected with the ,wall or ceiling to which the electric bracket or fixture is to be attached. The central rounded opening 2 of the plate is adapted to aline with the opening through which the electric wires connected \vith thc fixture are passed. The plate is further provided with a plurality of angularly arranged threaded elemcnts 4. These ele ments are preferably positioned intermediatcot the counter-sunk openings and the said elements are each provided with a securing nut 5 and a binding nut (5.
The numeral 7 designates the casting which is known to the trade as a crowsfoot. is provided with off-set legs having suitable openings, and is further provided with a bulging body portionv having threaded apertures to which the wire conducting pipes are attached. The threaded openings of thedegs of the crow-toot are adapted to receive the threaded elements 5 of the plate 1, and it will be noted that by adjusting the retaining and binding nuts, the angle at ,which the wire conducting pipes may be easily and quickly regulated, and the said pipe sustained in such a position.
From the above description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the simplicity of the device, as well as the advantages thereof will, it is thought, he
The crow-foot, as is well known,
perfectly apparent to those skilled in the art to which such It will be noted that the chances of twisting the wires and causing a short circuit 'will be entirely obviated and that dangerof the plaster from the walls dropping in the canopy of the fixture and the scrapping of the casing of the fixture when the canopy is shoved up the wall or ceiling is also entirely obviated, and that the plate affords a solid and substantial connection between the crow-foot and the fixture.
Having thus fully described the said invention, what I claim is In a device for the purpose set forth, and in combination with a crow-foot provided with ofl's'et legs having threaded openings a plate having a central opening. said plate inventions appertain.
being further provided with counter-sunk openings adapted for the reception of sustaining elements, said plate having a plurality of concentrically arranged spaced threaded extending members, each of said threaded members being provided with a 619 I esm'ee loemng nut and a biriding nut, an. ;each 1 In estimony whereof I afiix my'signzituw of said threaded members adapted to receive in presence of two Witnesses. the threaded openings of the legs and have w 7 its binding and holding elements contact WILLIAM with the opposite faces .of the fsaid legs, Witnesses;
substantially as and for the pfirpose sef, JOHN S. MO0NE'Y,
