COMBINATION KITCHEN-BOILER.
To alt lwhom t may concern.'
Be it known that l, Josemi, AN'roNUoCIo,
a citizen ot' the United States, residing at 3621 Vermont street, Fruitvale, in the county i oit' Alameda and IState of California, have invented a new and useful Combination Kitchen-Boiler, of which the following is a specification in such i'ull and clear terms as will enable those skilled in the art to con-. struct and use the same.
boiler and a. pipe is run from the heating drum through the flue and back into the top o1 the boiler. This result of the construction gives heating surt'aeeuvith the interior of the flue and exterior of the Heretofore it has been customary to'connect the outlet hot water pipe with the hot water pipe leading :trein the burner, in which event it is necessary to have the pipe leading into the boiler from the burner very short, in order to prevent the accumulation therein of air and steam. Another disatflvantage ot' this is that the gas burner heats the water in the boiler' very uuevenly, the top of the boiler being about 200 degrees when the bottom may be 65 degrees.
This invention, therefore, seeksto produce a device which'will heat the entire' boiler full. oi water evenly, while at the 40 saine time it will permit the escape theret'roin ot' any steam or air which may collect at the top of the boiler. y, In the drawings in which the saine numeral of reference is applied to the saine portion throughout the several views, Figure 1 is a sectional `view of the boiler show- .ing the boiler and heating drum in side elevation, and Fig. 2 is a sectional plan View of the boiler showing the location of the several pipes connected therewith.
The numeral 1 represents the boiler shell, in which a conical bottom 2 is secured, a
flue Sextending from the top oit said conical,
bottom through the top of the boiler. A hot Wat/er pipe is connected with the top .of the boiler, said pipe not extending below Specification of Letters Patent.

the bottom of the fitting in the boiler shell, into which it is secured, on the opposite side of the boiler from the hot water outlet pipe L1, a cold water inlet pipe 5 is secured into the fitting (3, said cold water pipe extending to a point near the bottom of the boiler. It is to be observed at this point that itis necessary for the cold water pipe to direct its iow of water downwardly' in order to prevent the incoming cold water from disturb ing the entire mass of water and mixing the cold and hot water unduly.
The boiler is supported by means of a stand 7, said stand having a cross bar 8 for supporting the burner 5'), a gas supply pipe 10 is connected to the burner and a valve-11 regulates the supply thereto, a small burner 1&3 and a valve 13 being used to light the larger burner.
Above the burner 5) there is a heating drum 14, said heating drum being supplied with cold water from a pipe 15, which is connected with the bottom ot' the boiler at 1G, a faucet 17 being used for cleaning the sediment out of the boiler and heating drinn. From the top of the drum 14, a pipe 18 extends through the flue 3 and it has suitable connections with a pipe 19, which extends downwardly into the boiler about one half the depth thereof. This pipe may be provided with a plurality of holes if so desired, but it is not absolutely esfsential. i a
The operation of the boiler Listas follows: Upon being filled with water', and upon the burner being started, the' water `will, tlow from the bottom ot` the boiler through the heating drum and up throughthe pipe 1S and back into the boiler, whereupon it will be mixed with the cold Water at a point about inidwayol the depth of the boiler, t us produping an evenly heated mass ot cold water, since'as it is dischargechfronl the pipe 19 it will not collect'at the top of the boiler as is usually the case where the hot water inlet pipe from the burner and heating drum is discontinued at the top of the boiler. It is also to be noted that the metal ot' the drum, the metal of the flue 3 and the metal of the pipe 18 is all necessary to give the proper heating surface to quickly hea the body of Water in the boiler.
.l is necessary to extend the pipe 18 entirely through the Hue of the boiler in o1'- 110 due, as Well. es to locate the connections of said lpipe with the boiler in an accessible position. That is, Where these connections are mede Within the flue it is very dillieult to put them in place, to say nothing' of the fact that the heating eliect is lost vfor such .a distance down as the hot Water pipe may be connected below the top lol; the Hue;
Having thus described my invention what l claim as new and desire to secure by Let-- ters Patent of the United States, is as follows:
l. ln a combination kitchen boiler, a boiler shell having a conical bottom, a flue leading from the top of the conical bottom through the top of the boiler, :1L-Water heating drum adjacent said conical bottom, a Water supply pipe connected with the boiler, a. hot Water outlet pipe connected with the top of the boiler, a pipe extending from the bottom of the boiler to the heating drum and another pipe extending from the Aheeting drone entirely through the flue :and downwardly into the boiler about one half -its depth, as set forth. g
2. In e combination kit/chen boiler, e boiler shell having e conical bottom, e flue extending through the boiler from the top of seid conical bottom, a, cold Water supply pipe-for said boiler leading to a point ad i, jacent the bottom thereof, e hot Water out let pipe connected with the boiler at the top thereof, a heating drum immedieteb7 below the conical bottom, a gas burner for heating said drum, a supply Ypipe 'for theheeting drum, und an outlet pipe for Said drum, said outlet pipe e,\;.'ending entirely through the flue in the boiler and downwardly into seid boiler to e point about the middle thereof, seid pipe also having e. plurality of openings therein, as set forth.
3. ln a combination .kitchen boiler, e, boiler shell, a flue-extending through the boiler, o, Water heating drum below .smid lue, a supply pipe connected with the bottono of Ythe boiler and the heating drum, e cold water supply pipe extending through the top of the boiler, e hot Water outlet pipe for the heating drum extending entirely through the flue' and returning 'into the boiler ande hot water outlet pipe seperate from the hoi; Water pipe, leading rom the heating drum and' connected with the top of the boiler, whereby-the hot Water may be drawn from the boiler Without the eccumu- "lation of ges therein, es eet forth.
ln testimony whereof l have hereunto set my hand this 16 dey oit ,October fl. D. 19,11, in the presence et the two subscribed b l Witnesses x C. P. GRIFFIN, Join: J. AN'roNncoio.
