Description

J. H. VON REHDBR.
CORNER BEAD FOR BUILDING CONSTRUCTIONS.
APPLICATION IILBD APn.1a. 1912.
1,035,278. Patented Aug. 13, 1912.
To. all whom it may concer-n: l Be it known that I, JOSEF H. 4VON RErroER,
bUMTED STATS PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEF H. voN'nEHDER, or WINFIELD, NEW YORK.
coninnfnnnn ron BUILDING coNs'rnUcrroNs.
`. a citizen of the United States, residing vat tions Winfield, 'county of Queens, and State of pNew' York, have invented a new and Improved Corner-Bead for Building, Construc- This invention relates to a corner bead of -protectjinterior corners of fire-proofI and novel construction adapted to eiiectively other buildings.
In the accompanying drawing: e 1
is a horizontal section .through a wa provided with a corner bead embodying myv invention; Fig. 2 a perspective view of the corner beadwith the clip omitted Fig 3 av horizontal'v section of the corner ead and interlocking clip, and Fig/1 a perspective .view` of a section ofV the corner bead and o1i-"'l he corner bead-'consists yessentially `of a continuous strip of sheet II netallbent to form --iat lts ,center a Atube or` bulls nose 1 0.
From lthe `seam of this tube, the two sections ofthe bead. extend radially outward and in "j closecontact `with each other to form a doubled solidor imperforate neck 11. From f ed f pair of wings 12 which project at right anf. vscribe f'. the corner 15 of the wall to be protectedto l54o `lis now applied so as to completely cover the innenends'of this neck, the two sections of the bead are laterally deflected to form a glesfrom each other.V These wings-12 are provided with lnail holes 13 and with a sel'- -ries of alined plaster apertures 14:, the lat- ,ter being shown to be l of'trangular form. Inapilying the bead, constructed `as de- ,the win v12,are.-made to straddle which they are secured by.nails 16 ldriven through holes `13. The plaster coating 17 up neck 11 and also bead lfsuch coating y entering pertures M being securely bound 4the bead.`
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed April 13, 1912. Serial No. 690,503.
of which the following is a specicatient f varied tol suit the Patented Aug. 173, 1912.
With fire proof constructions, it may happ'en that the nail holes 13 do not re ster with the seams ofthe walls. In or er to effect an accurate alinement between such seams andthe nail holes, I provide a number of clips 18, each com osed of a bendable sheet metal strip. This strip is adapted to be passed through av pair ,of horizontally -alined apertures 14 of the -bead, during which passage, it isbent centrally at right angles to form two arms that extend in parallelism `with wings 12 and project a suitable distance beyond the same. Each of these arms is provided with a downwardlyopening notch or vertical slit 19 adapted to mg a previousaccurate fitting; The number of clips re uired for each d depends upon thellengt of the latter andma be judgment of the bu' der.
I claim: l
A corner bead "comprising va central tubular section, a doubled vneck extendingv radially therefrom, Iand a pairl of wings extendingk from the neck and having alined size may be seapertures combined with nailing clips extending thrdugh some of said apertures and having vertical downwardl opening slits vthat straddle the edges of t e wings lower perimeters ofthe apertures.
