The apparatus comprises essentially a frame 1 supported on casters and cm a pair of horizontal rails 95 which at their forward end connect with a pair" of inclined rails B,"the latter being secured at their lower ends'to a bracket 2 of the frame. As tube 5 is drawn over t e tray by tong 24, its freely sus- !metal is loosened and may readily fall out of the tube into said tray.

The tube which had previously been laid by the tongs against platform 14 will now be swung into a horizontal position, Rod 23 will dro together with tong 2% through achute 2 upon an endless conveyer 22.- The latter runs along the side of the within reach of the starting point 6.
On that side of the machine frame oppotank 15. Within tank 15 is mounted a rotary shaft 19 provided with a lurality of rolled from the platform 14 into the tank. The tube after being properly cooled will thus' be lifted by the wings out'of the tank and thrown into a cart or other receiver.

In this Way the interior of the tube is cleaned out in a simple manner, and waste of coating metal is avoided. The tube emptied as described is placed by tongs 24 against the platform 14,while the latter is held in an inclined p0 sition by carriage 17. VVhe'n bar 23 carrying tongs 24"strikes abutment 18 the pull on the platform ceases and the latter is swung back into a horizontal position. The tube 5 is now rolled sidewise off the platform into cooling tank 15 from which it is ultimately ejected by wings 20. I
Fig. 8 illustrates a modification of the knocking out mechanism. Here grate 10 is supplanted by a rotating shaft 13 carrying beaters 12 that are adapted to successively strike the sides of the tube to be cleaned, the latter being suspended in a vertical position. i
